Thank you Sony and thank you Studio Liverpool for recognising us adrenaline fans out there... 2097/XL was the reason I bought a PSX, Fusion was the reason I bought a PS2 (although it was lacking in experience), Pure was the reason I got a PSP. Now please give us some PS3 screenies so I've got an excuse to get one... I'm gonna fuse Pulse to my PSP when this baby comes out...
Long live anti-gravity racing...
Now bring back TDR...puhleeeeeeeeeease...

Mind you, if you fuse it, it probably won't work!
EG-X = EG-R + Quantax ? Oldschool Qirex in maroon and beige. Yes, please
I've got the impression from all those news here and there that the press release included a full list of racing and music tracks but none of the outlets have released it to public in it's original form yet and are just randomly quoting it.
Exceeder sure does sound nice .
But mag-strips... come on! Where's AGPC when we need them.
Is 'Exceeder' you refer to that Mason song of the same name?
I love that song!

Short little 30 sec sample of exceeder

EG-X = EG.R + Xios
Quantax ?
No such team exists beyond the 'zone forums.
As Rob has said EG-X is EG-R and Xios, and in time details will be revealed why these teamed up.... (looks at Rob )
As for Mag-strips... trust us a little
Very cool news.
Will the PS3 WipEout be Pulse too?
Col - Quantax was already part of the backstory before I came along - I just embelished it a little.
To quote myself from another thread;
"Quantax are the aerodynamics & engineering specialists formed by Holst McQueen in the time between his departure from AG Systems and his involvement with Qirex."

Please help the wikipedia page!

EG-Xios. What? That'll look something like a scorched beet. (can't avoid organic metaphors with Xios)
Actually that makes sense considering how every finnish company has nowadays outsourced their functions to chinese companies. Some ecological takeover backstory with chinese millionaire buying all our summer cottages perhaps
But mag-strips... come on!
I am very hyped about this i cant wait.

WOW! Just read the news on kotaku, this is GREAT indeed! With all the community feedback the devs have from Pure, this is bound to turn out EXCELLENT!
Btw, Colin, if you read this, I take it what we see on the screenshots are placeholder textures? I already like the design of some of the ships' bodies - new FEISAR looks ace, and that (new?) team in red and yellow (2nd eurogamer screen) already gets me hyped up - very old schooley. Just promise me Assegai is back in the game and I'm happy!
Oh and Max will be stoked about EG-X I guess!
Ahahaha, you're so damn right, eL. Got so excited when I heard about EG-X. Maybe it will be time to change my EG.r avatar then.
And Assegai's in again. You can already see it on the screens. But it's a shame (maybe that sounds to hard/rude, "shame" isn't really the right word), that some ships do have a very, very similar body compared to Pure's. On the high res screens you can see that you beloved Assegai hasn't changed it's body at all. At least it looks like it hasn't.
I'm just wondering on how far the game's progress is now. What's gonna be changed till the final version is available. For example the new weapon pad design looks nice (even though I would have liked a deeper colors more) and then the speed pad looks like Pure's one which does not fit with the new weapon pad then.
But I'm sure SL knows what they're doing.
hope you understand my posts, Rob. If not I'll try to phone you so we can speak together and you will understand ;)
on which set of screenshots are you seeing the new Assegai? Something you were shown at the convention?
wow! I logged back in, having had little time to myself of late ( learning to drive and work being crappy! ) to find a NEW WO title!?
we need Arial Tetsuo pompom girl smilies to use for this!!!!
I dunno Assegai looks a little fatter to me, might just be that piccyture
El it is picture 4 Assegai is high on the corner
Well I pop in here after yet another absence (8 week old daughter - she's a cutie!) and here we have a brand new Wipeout! This is great news! The shots look nice. Very much looks like the successor to Pure and that is no bad thing at all. Some familiar looking ship shapes and, as we all know by now, WO has a habit of developing quite considerably from the early shots so I'm really curious how this one will look in the end.
Should I be worried about the little Fusionisms (reverse tracks, magnetic bits and one Fusion-like design)? Any word on whether the focus will be on racing or battling? I know the camp is fairly split when it comes to that but I'm a fan of the racing elements.
You know, Pure was so good that I think I'll be more than happy with more of the same or an evolution of that. Colin, are you allowed say if it's roughly the same team as Pure? I guess with you involved it can't go far wrong anyway as you were right on the money with Pure.
Very exciting stuff and I'm really glad it's another PSP game. Though I'm sure many are hoping for a PS3 iteration (and I'm sure it will come), Wipeout worked remarkably well on the PSP and offered so much that I'm really happy we'll get to see that again.
Looking forward to all the news on Pulse (and well done to Yawnstretch!).
The emphasis will be on the racing more than weapons, as it was with Pure (probably even a little more so than Pure)
The aim of the game from a design perspective has been
- Fix the things the team were unhappy with from Pure (example: acceleration across all ships has been improved)
- Look at the things the fans were unhappy with and address some of those issues (obviosuly not all as some are complete opposites so you cant do both)
- Refine features already there
- Introduce new features that continue on from Pure and help provide a better game
Its very easy to get Wipeout wrong, to change things for the sake of it and to try and reinvent things, this is something we are very conscious of.
Pulse is a full game in its own right and not simply a quick sequel (its 2yrs on release wise) but its also not a complete u-turn from the direction of Pure.
I wish I didnt have to be so vague and could go into more detail, but I'm urging on the side of caution until I know I know what we can say
