The Verge had an interesting article (http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/14/8413813/wipeout-in-your-browser) on it today about a tool that lets you explore the tracks and various models from the original wipE'out" in your browser
If nothing else it's amazing seeing it running with crisp edges on all the polygons and no pop-in.
Go take a look at Dominic Szablewski's wipE'out" viewer (http://phoboslab.org/wipeout/) and while you're at it, read up on his reverse engineering (http://phoboslab.org/log/2015/04/reverse-engineering-wipeout-psx) project for the game

This is probably the best thing I've ever seen in my life. It also makes recreating WO tracks so much easier. I remember when I was doing Korodera I had to guess the position of objects from game footage, and let me tell you, 1995 games aren't exactly consistent, for example, having buildings that are seen from one section of the track, but not from another makes positioning them correctly a pain in the a**!
