20 years ago last Thursday, the PlayStation was first released to the Japanese market (it would be released in the EU 9 months later). Everyone here knows (or should know) the huge impact the console had on the video game market, breaking the battle between Nintendo and Sega for VG superiority. CD-ROM, 3D graphics and numerous game franchises (including Wipeout :) ), it was king before Xbox came about for a new console war.
To commemorate PS' 20th Anniversary, Sony have announced a special 20th Anniversary console & controller which is a throwback to the console that started it all. It's coloured in Original Grey; features the original 4-colour PS logo on both the console and the controller; also has a special shape pattern (with a 2 added for good measure) on ethe console and the controller touchpad; has an Eye included in the bundle; and it is all bundled together in a special collectable case.
There will only be 12,300 consoles made worldwide (the number of PS1 consoles sold on it's first day), and for extra exclusivity, you build number is printed on an aluminium plate on the console itself. No word has been announced yet on hiow to acquire these consoles in Europe, but
Pre-order details for North America will be revealed during the opening keynote at the PlayStation Experience taking place on December 6 at 10am PT / 1pm ET.

NOTE: Apologies for the late notice, I mainly posted it for nostalgia rather than telling people to "Buy-buy-buy".
