I don't even. Why.

A lot of people speculated that this means the peripheral wont be used for Triple-A titles in future and there is obviously extreme criticism over the acquisition.
I feel sorry for the people that invested in the Kickstarter.

Uh.
Kickstarter isn't an investment?
First of all, the people kickstarting are donating, not investing. They own 0% of the oculus and aren't entitled to anything.
Secondly, don't you think oculus could benefit from facebook's huge capital and public reach?

A feisty one aren't you?

But no, I don't really care much about the Oculous Rift. I'm more concerned about the lack of necessities in under-privileged countries than the general direction Facebook is going right now.

That sounds awfully pretentious. Stay on the topic at hand.

And yes, this sucks big time. But apparently Facebook won't do much to change anything. Lol. That's rich.

For me: hearing this made me quite skeptical about Facebook even more... Though there are some good news behind this (that is, if I remember correctly): Oculus will have more funds, possibly even more time, into the developement of the Oculus Rift VR, due to the fact that Facebook can provide Oculus with more financial support...

Not sure, if this sounds as true as I remembered reading from a source I forgot - slap me a big one, if this sounds wrong. :paperbag

I donĀ“t understand this hate against Facebook...

The hate on Facebook is general Internet user bias but also that it's a social networking business. They will undoubtedly use it for media, social networking, advertisement and other generally frowned upon aspects of our species current existence, instead of say, movies, games or even more possible a form of education and teaching. With that said the amount of funding VR will now get means cheaper retail prices and faster development at the cost of we wont get a say in where this technology goes and yes we, the general public, did have a form of power when it was still run by Oculus and relied on consumer feedback as a means of not only production but without us they wouldn't have an income of sorts.

The hate on Facebook is, that Facebook is all based around Narcissism, it's just a huge tedious waste of time.

Both of my 24 and 25 year old nieces have said to me that they wished they had never joined up.

I'm with Carl from South Park regarding Facebook.

Thankfully the younger generation coming through [8 -12 ] are seeing all the anguish and social problems being suffered by their older siblings being addicted to Facebook, and are opting not to be a part of it.
So with any luck, Facebook will fall out of favor, much like the Hula Hoop, and disappear as quickly as it arrived.

If you want to have something more titillating [or sinister, depends how paranoid you are] to talk about [In the same vein as Facebook acquisitions ].

Have a look at all the Robotic and AI research companies GOOGLE has recently bought, most of whom have been developing military robotics for various arms of the USA armed forces.
GOOGLE has bought 8 robotics firms in 1 year.

Here are some links to a few of those new purchases.

Judging by the further comments on this post, I don't seem to be the only one.

Your move.

You do realise he's Stan, right?

And can you elaborate the Narcissism relating to Facebook with a link of an article? I'm kinda curious... :|

I don't seem to be the only one caring. Your move.

Wait, so you didn't care, and now you do? What happened to all the 3rd-world orphans you were busy saving?

I think you mistook the context. You've also added to the quote by the way (that's cheating).
I specified that I wasn't the only one "complaining" in general. That does not mean I care about the thread topic as I mentioned earlier.
