The first race will be this Sunday 30th. I would very much appreciate it if people give good warning if they can't make it, because I'd rather not go into the situation where some pilots are up in the early hours for only two races.
Because we have more than 8 pilots, could people post their fastest time trial times (I'm wasn't going to bother with fastest laps in a TT, but if that's no problem for you guys, we'll do that) this week.
I have made some changes to the team allocations, so everyone needs to look at the first post if you have been given a new team. But, these are now permanent, so for those who want to compete but haven't signed up, you've only got a handful of teams to choose from.


ATTENDANCE RULES:


If not all pilots have arrived by the start time (if only 4-5 pilots are present), wait for one hour in-case other pilots are late. (Doesn't matter if there are 6 or more pilots present)
If still not enough attend, postpone the race for one week.
If there are 4-5 pilots attend, but one has to leave soon, race with the lack of numbers so as to have the most pilots possible for the race (This was done on occasions where Rossriders had to leave early)

Now that we are approaching 24 hours before the first round of the season, I have a little contingency plan for those pilots who might not show due to forgetfulness or unannounced absence:


I would like all pilots to jump online about 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled race, so we can get a chat up and running and to give people a chance to set up.
If not all of the pilots are online without prior notice by the time of the race, the race will be postponed for up to an hour until those players get online.
If those players still haven't shown up, the race will be further postponed for the following Sunday where the criteria to join will be the same (5-10 mins early, hour wait).
If in the unlikely possibility we had to postponed the race for a further hour, following the previous weeks postponement, the race will go ahead and those who are absent will be listed "did not race"


If anyone has any queries, just reply. I will also post this in the first post if everyone agrees.

Great racing, everyone. I thank everyone of you who competed today, the even went off really well. A special mention goes to ALovelyLillith for standing for the (presumably asleep) Rossriders. It was good to see everyone pretty much accounted for when the deadline hit and we only had to wait a bit longer for an eighth pilot to start racing. Thanks everyone!

The first race was good but the second? Jesus... that was awful. Nontheless it was great fun. Due to the character of an important event my heart frequency was during that races higher than usual. Almost compareable with the last lap of a TT or last corner in great SL . Abd i like that feeling much:D

That was in the context of my fanfics. But because (as I found out) you get respawned after getting eliminated, it doesn't apply to our players championship as I didn't think it was fair for those who got eliminated, but fought back to get good positions.

If any of you guys think this is too complicated, just say so and I will make my elimination rule standard throughout the tournament.

I was on too but I was a half hour late. I forgot the event is now on at 11PM due to daylight saving time ending. Thanks to ou guys that did show. You obviously are better organised than me! :)

But even if I was on time, I doubt I would've done the races due to lack of participants (even if we had six, we would've raced). I understand that some of those who were absent had other things to do and couldn't play. So, as such, we'll discuss which date in the near future would be most suitable to race for everyone, so we can all race. I hope we can come to a decision soon. it would be a she to fold the league after the enthusiasm shown by everyone.

Here are the results from R3. Unfortunately, we only had 4 race in the 350 and 5 (thanks to Vecarlos) in the 400. We would've waited (like for Maciek cause he had internet issues), but Rossriders had to leave very soon so it was now or never.

As far as our (players') championship goes, I'll seriously consider taking the best results and making them count, so that it count everyone equally (sort of). We'll wait and see at the end of the year if this will work.

I think I'll start off by giving Maciek a hug...cause yeah...a net connection going bad is no fun. Would have been nice to have you in the race and having had connection problems...(I think it's safe to say EVERYBODY here has had and will have connection problems), I can show some empathy and sympathy.

Second...my win...

Honestly... given espeically that sunday, I wasn't sure if I would have had a legit chance at victory in either the 350 or 400 race, let alone a podium even with fewer particpants (and on a circuit with fewer opportunities to get a bomb to the face.) Though honeslty my victory is a combination of trying to presist, caution (the fact it is moa therma forward) and even a tiny bit of risk taking and dumb luck. Part of the dumb luck came in me getting my hands on the shield as the quake was fired, but also timing to fire the rockets...besides that overall, was just to try and presist and not screw up (any more).

That and the fact up until the 400 race, I honeslty I didn't have much of a heart but I didn't want to back out either...along with RL responsibilities which was why I was scrapped for time...that and any other upcoming sunday ><.

That being said...actually winning was a nice feeling :D, maybe this will help with confidence but then again given what's coming up...we'll see.

I feel tempted to try and do a write up/race report or at least contribute in how either pilotI I play as, felt before, during and after the race, but well...I'll ask Keg for his angle of things.

That being said...I'll try not to be so much a ghost around here but...life and whatnot.We will see.

It's good to see that your win felt good, and it has given you some motivation to continue. I know the feeling, I've lost motivation from Jonny's F3600. However, I've continued to race and I'll be announcing my "retirement" from that League after the final race (this week).

I would really be interested in your report, if you wished to write it. As you said, it'll be very interesting to see the race from your perspective considering your situation and also because this is Auricom's first AGRC victory since 2200 (not counting the 2205 Delta league) and the first time an American has won in an Auricom since Bobby Butler in 2136. I was going to write a mid-season report after the sixth race.

Anyway, here's the video from R3. Mirage is missing due to them pulling out of the race due to financial issues with MAGEC. I'll be writing a small news entry on this this week.

Hi guys,

I have noticed lately that quite a few players have been missing multiple races over the past month. I fully understand that due to time zone difference, some times may not be convenient for certain players. However, I have been a little concerned over the overall commitment of players to the league.

If it is possible, could everyone try to make some effort to race in the next two rounds (maybe starting an hour earlier so that UK players start at 1PM, lie it was before). At that point, I'll have a chat with you guys about how the league is going and decide whether to continue like this or I run my own simulations of the races (i.e. cancel the players tournament).

Jus a quick reminder (and I apologise how late this is), round 5 will be starting in less than half an hour. As with previous races, I would like to have at least half of the grid attend so I can run the race, otherwise I will postpone the race by one week.

All my experience in racing games have told me that nothing is absolute or set in stone, although in the case of HD fury...weapons have been quite a factor in determining one's results. We'll see.

...I want to say I'm getting to writing an article for the Auricom pilot I'm playing as...but with everything else going on...and my attempts to get better at my would be artwork...we'll see.

FX350- Had a good start at lap 1 and attempted a barrel roll on the first left-hander but was collided out of place. Spent next 2 laps catching up and duking out with rossriders to catch up. Third lap managed to acquire a few turbos and propel into 2nd. 4th lap I attempted the first barrel roll again but hit by marcingru via missile left critical energy. I absorbed some mines and used rockets to displace marcingru. Finished 2nd afterwards.

FX400-Much better race, started in 1st but once again contenders collided into me costing me shield energy and a good line for the first barrel roll. Fired a quake and regained 2nd behind marcingru. Nothing interesting happened afterwards for me. Finished 2nd by 0.81 seconds behind 1st

As usual, a key concern is the fact given my...lack of experience against other players, if I'll get a favorable result this time around either with piranha or Auricom.

I do feel a bit more confident about this circuit even more than before, in spite of how it's one of the more difficult ones, due to how I had spent so many laps on it.

That being said though, I'm painfully aware I'm some 2 or more seconds off the world record pace, sure partial blame is because I'm using Piranha and Auricom but more because I've still got ways to go.

I'm a half-decent pilot, but being a racer has been a different story altogether. With other priorities to deal with (then again so does everybody else)...all things considered I could be doing much, much worse.

We'll see...could do well, maybe not. We can predict, we can estimate, we don't really know until a race begins.

And for @Maciek & @Snake, before you guys get out of control with your blasting of each other, here's what I had in mind for the personalities of those three pilots:

Kovalenko: typically Russian: man of little words, can be aggressive (particularly after being overlooked for Mirage's FX400 seat when they entered FX400 in 2209) - anger over Honda valid, particularly over last few rounds.

Honda: calm, smooth, smart: just as quick as Kovalenko, but more smoother and more relaxed over his Russian rival (a la Jim Clark)

I'll try to make tomorrow's race, but...

maybe I'll try to explain in a breif ramble.

My RL situation is such that I've had to push my priorites onto some things elsewhere, that and while I have not abadoned HD fury, I' knew from the start of ever playing any WipEout title that it takes skill, and even tanacity and aggression to master, not to mention willingness to take risks to be fast enough to have a chance against high end opponents.

My chances of victory aren't much better given I tend to use the heavier craft more times than not, I still think it's in practice possible to be a victor even against the likes of Icaras, Assegai and Harimau to say the least, when using the likes of Piranha, Auricom, and Traikis to name three, but doing so requires nothing short of full, consistent, fluid concious and unconscous control.

It's reaching my own unique 'zone' where I can pilot in a manner to which chances of screwing up are minimalized.

I haven't been able to get in that zone forever...granted I'm technically a 'rookie' to HD fury as i've only started this year, and have been trying to make up for lost time, but it's been hard.

My RL priorties include pressing bills, a need to advance for some plans, and the fact I have to push harder on my art front, as difficult as it's been considering I'm either too tired, angry, or exausted from other things. ...and I'd make a longer rant/ramble but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I'll hopefully be ready tomorrow...or as ready as i'll ever get.
