You should looking at Rock and Hard Rock Groups, there's the best material for you imo.

Well, like stated earlier, it depends on the kind of racing, and having played racing games for a long time, I've even put together whole lists of 'what could be', not to mention even real life racing even though you should be as focused as possible (even though sometimes music could arguably help a driver be in their 'zone' more).

Plus everybody has their tastes. I guess to give some idea to my potential tastes...something I've been throwing together in regards to the recent Codemasters' games, namley DiRT (1,2,3) and GRiD

Drum and Bass.

It just fits, the really fast pace (about 170-180 BPM typically) actually enhances the sense of speed, and the breakbeat style of drumming gives the music a mechanical feel that's really suited to motor racing. The agressive electronic timbres also adds a certain energy to the gameplay.

Often when I'm playing racing games, I mute the in-game music and stick some DnB on Spotify in the background. I tend to favour stuff like Netsky, High Contrast, Danny Byrd, London Elektricity, Phetsta, Brookes Brothers, etc.
