Good evening :)

I'm Liod19, 20 years old, female and coming from Germany.

I discovered Wipeout in January by watching some videos on youtube, so I had to buy it myself (HD Fury, don't know the other games, maybe this'll change sometime). And after a first few days of frustration I got really addicted to it. I guess I have improved since then, but I'm still lacking some important techniques like side shifting and pulling off more barrel rolls and so on.

Hopefully there are some people out here that can help me out (thanks to Hellfire_WZ btw for the tutorials on youtube, they're really helpful, though it's really hard to put those things into action).

Well... I'm not very talkative, so I won't write much here, but I'm an attentive reader, maybe you can deal with it ;) I hope I'm accepted anyway :)

Thank you for reading.

First time I've heard of someone both buying the game and coming to the forum cause of youtube vids, someone did something right with them vids!

Welcome and I think you'll find that even though you might not be very talkative, as you say, people will welcome you anyway.

Thanks for the nice greetings :)

@Oryx Crake: It's just that I like speed and Wipeout has a speed I never experienced or watched in any other game before. And when I watched it with all this barrel rolling and stuff I thought it would be very fun and I was right. In addition I like science fiction and electronic music and these were the main reasons for me to buy this game.

Yes, we were in the same room last night.
But my racing was terrible, never practiced those reverse tracks (excuses for poorly failing all the time ;))

haha all racers are known for making excuses, I'm no different, but it should be noted it was a fairly tough room you were in. For not having played long you certainly showed some skill. Like I said though tough room, quite a few of the players in there have times in the top 10-30 bracket on the leader boards no shame in losing to that.

you might find it interesting to check out http://www.wipeoutrankings.com you can see pretty much all of the top 1000 times on every track in every speed class, and add your own times, it's the most up to date leader board for wohd. Certainly a lot more up to date than the in game leader boards.
