Has anyone else still remember the two great shows back then, which involves two robots battling against each other until one of them is disabled? I did, and both BattleBots and Robot Wars are my favorite shows, though I like Robot Wars even more. :D

BattleBots was about two robots duking it out, which are controlled by two different teams, while avoiding or pushing another robot into hazards (e.g. killsaws, spikes, pulverizers), though I haven't heard of it for many years, seeing as how the show was discontinued in 2002, unfourtunately. Here are some of the videos I found (not the best quality due to old graphics):

Ziggo vs. Wacker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nNaOmHKFxQ)
No Apologies vs. Son of Whyachi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnrMasuncXE&feature=related)
Tazbot vs. Silverback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVa1xoULF1k&feature=related)

Robot Wars is like BattleBots, but with house robots, such as Sgt. Bash, Sir Killalot, Matilda, Shunt and the others. To me, it's one of my favorite shows because of the awesome robots such as Chaos 2 and Razer, as well as World Championships and European Championships. Sadly, the show was then cancelled, which is a dissapointment :(. Here are some of the videos I found (they are mostly UK versions of the show):

Gemini vs. Tornado (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NmUuEDI-SM&feature=related)
Razer vs. 101 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVMGBNHsQko&feature=related)
Chaos II vs. Hypno-Disc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Kp70VKT4M&feature=related)

Seeing as how both shows have been discontinued, neither of them were re-aired for many years. But then I found out that both BattleBots and Robot Wars are still going on this year (I found it on YouTube, just not found anywhere on TV) and I was surprised to see that both are still active even after both shows were discontinued. I could try and take part on either Robot Wars or BattleBots one day and create a competitive robot of my own (even though it could take weeks or months to build it). 8)

I absolutely loved Robot Wars during the 3rd and 4th wars, I lost interest when they added too many house robots and it stop being on BBC.

I started watching it again on youtube recently, theres a guy who has pretty much every episode uploaded.

Firestorm, Razar and Killerhurtz were my favourites! HypnoDisc was pretty awesome, I'll always remember that first fight when it disemboweled armageddon (I think thats what it was called).

They should start televising it again!

Ah...Robot Wars...great, great times I was such a Hypno-disc fanboy! Although, I loved 101 and 'Panic Attack!' too. Mostly 101 cause it cost a penny to make. :lol

Yeah, didn't they 'borrow' most of the parts? I seem to remember it was pretty good but had the most pathetic weaponry ever.

I used to have a Backlash toy kit when I was young. That thing was still dangerous even if it wasn't remote controlled.

Some of the bots were really interesting/awesome designs but unfortunately a lot of times others were just too simple and uninteresting. Especially the punching bag bots with no armament. :/

I do have to say that you've made me look up a few fights on Youtube though. It was a good show. I wonder why the craze died down though...

Hell yes I remember it. One of the best shows on TV. :P

Hypnodisc. That is all. :P

Me and a couple friends considered making a robot for what is now known as Roaming Robots, but it didn't take off from the drawing board... Lack of funds. :P

I discovered the bot named Warhead in BattleBots. Man that thing is cool.

I absolutely loved Robot Wars, especially during the era of Cassius, Chaos II, Roadblock and Panic Attack. I didn't like it when they scrapped all of the obstacle based games and made it all just about fighting, and I got further disillusioned from Series 4 onwards when every robot had a damn flipper!

Sir Killalot was the definition of cool when you were younger.

So true. So damn true. :P

Mr Psycho was always a laugh too, loved it when Firestorm IV flipped him xD

Nah, I didn't like Mr Psycho. I know the show was all about destruction, but I didn't like any of the new house bots from refbot onwards. Mr Psycho was just stupidly big.

Imo, the show was best during series 3 and 4. 5 was ok, but when they upped the weight restrictions to 100kg it was less interesting. Also most of the successful robots just copied the kinetic weaponry of hypnodisc, which put an end to the inventiveness of it all. The 3rd wars was definitely my favourite!

The unusual robots were the most entertaining, like Diotor (the one with the red/black fur), beast of bodmin (the sucessor to RoadBlock, with the winking eyes on the back), sir chromalot, Razar was just beautiful.

I had the whole collection of the pull-back toys. I think I still do somewhere. >.>

Shunt was my favourite House Robot, Cassius my favourite. I never missed a single episode of Season 2. That said, watching Hypno-Disc tear Splinter to pieces was the most awesome thing I saw during my schooldays.

Great show. I think was Pussycat was probably my favourite robot - and I remember being pretty pleased when they beat Razer and Hypnodisc in quick succession.

But,yeah. The newer iterations lost me, I have to say.
