Moderator hi-jack

Apologies for the hijack but we have so many new members coming along (a good thing) that don't yet have access to the Pilot's Lounge that I figured I'd put them all in one place.

If you are a new WipEout HD pilot and want tro introduce yourself then you can:
a) Do so in this thread
b) wait until you have 5 posts under your belt which will then unlock the Pilot's Lounge (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9) for you to use for your own personal introduction.

Before even posting, please read and remember the rules, listed over here:
http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/announcement.php?f=18

Pleas read Hellfire's FAQ (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6308) for starting out tips, and watch his new Basics Tutorial video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxzYkTralIA). Use search to find answers to questions. If you don't find them then try the Random Question thread (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5273) first before making a new post.

Thanks for reading, now back to the intros.

Hey guys I'm Raffaele and I'm a new pilot in Wipeout. I currently use Harimau and used to use Goteki 45 when I first started. I've beaten many elite races and currently just practicing on getting perfect laps. I'm good on all venom tracks and currently playing on flash and sometimes rapier. I got it during the welcome back pacakage and had no idea how great this game is! I literly can not stop playing it! I liked it so much I also picked up pulse to play when I'm not home :P

Right now my current problems is on some tracks no matter how hard I turn I usually hit a wall. I'm having this problem on some of the more complicated tracks on Rapier.

I love the community here, great friendly people:)

See you guys on the track my psn is the same as my sn here watchhead11

Hi! You can start by asking to some users in the forum, such as Coronel_Gadaffi, ion_harvest, they can help you out much. As well as the corners, how do you take them, from the inside or outside to inside?

As well, does Harimau have good steering? I use Icaras and in most parts don't crash a lot.

Also, when you are about to crash, remember on using side shifting, it helps me A LOT.

Welcome! (PSN: a3a33a3abf, add me for some training)

Thanks. I'll add you. Thanks for the tips. I usually take corners by the inside and some of the harder ones from the outside so I don't hit the wall. I'm getting pretty good on flash but wow some of the rapier levels are hard.. Practice makes perfect.

Welcome! :)

Practice makes perfect, you´re right! Don´t worry about the speed classes, I´m a Flash-Pilot myself (lack of ambition 8)).
Watch Hellfire´s tutorials and ask the pilots here at the forum: you´ll get way better/faster soon.
Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I'm Matt.
I'm new to Wipeout in general, though I have had experience with the Wipeout Pulse demo on PSP. I thought it was fun, but I regrettably did not buy it. As soon as HD/Fury became free on PSN, I snapped it up. I love it so far. I'm on the 3rd set of levels on the HD campaign and I'm starting to dip my toes in online play. I'm still a noob, but i consider myself a smart noob for visiting and learning from this forum. Now for my questions :) :

I use Icaras and Feisar for my mains. I experiment with Piranha and Assegai (though I'm not too serious.) Any recommendations for other noobships?

My two favorite tracks are Moa Therma and Chengou Project (!). It took my awhile to get Chengou, but I cracked it and own at it. Now I'm having issues with Senenco Climb. I watched Hellfire's awesome tutorial, and I'm just starting to get it, though more tips would be nice. Thanks!

welcome to the zone! as for ships go with what feels nice to you, general warning though eg-x fury is a tough one.
Personally I'm a harimau fury pilot but it's all about taste really.

Anyway sebenco can be a tough one yes especially on phantom it's all about practice. Keep it up and good luck!

If you go online, don't be deterred by losing. All pilots take time to develop, even then some (like myself) still only run mid pack. There are a ton of great racers, most of which are on this forum.

Try all the ships, including their fury alts. They all handle different and it can take time to truly fine the one that fits your style.

Side Shift, learn it, love it, cherish it. XD

23rd June 2011, 05:18 AM
Side Shift and pitch down are our friends on Sebenco. At least on Phantom, you'll have more than enough speed to get enough air on every bump to do a BR. Pitch down to avoid excessive air and stay glued to the track.

I too like Moa Therma, or at least the reverse edition. The mag-strip is boring, but the corners just flows and when you get it right it gives you a great sensation of speed. Almost as good as Metropia :p

Edit: Oh, and welcome to the Zone :D

Nobody has linked to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxzYkTralIA) yet? :o

As for the ships, I wouldn't worry about it. Just stick with something you feel comfortable with, as there really isn't that big of a difference unless you're playing in speed lap. Even then, the Icaras is only typically superior by a small margin, and until you're sufficiently good at the game that margin will be negligible.

Welcome!
Noob ships...try AG-Systems.Assegai,maybe later, because the Shield stat is 7. I stick to FEISAR because I specialise in Handling. Either that or I mainly use ships that have extremes in one stat.
Wow. The HD thread is now the Intro thread. Need there be something done to ensure that the introductions end up in the right place?

just thought id post to say hi to all here, not play a wipeout game since the 1st 1 way back on PS1,

Noticed wipeout HD on the welcome back pack so figured id give it a shot, and glad i did, awesome game indeed.

Still getting used to playing so working through the campaigne while doing some speed laps on faster speed classes to try get better.

PSN name is Geist1011 same as here.

Hope to have some fun races against you guys, see you on the tracks

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone here :)
I'm not a complete newbie to the WipEout series, but I'm not a veteran either, i've had Pure and now HD/Fury thanks to that PSN package thing :P loving every bit of it, although I am getting thrashed online... Strange how i have no problems playing Pure, but in HD/Fury i can't replicate the results i get on the PSP...

Pitch is far more important in HD than in the PSP games, try setting motion control to your pitch, it works lovely.

Just got this game about 3 weeks ago and I can't put it down. I discovered this awesome forum the other day and I decided to register. So far my favorite vehicles are the icaras and goteki 45. Sebenco climb was my least favorite track but now it's my favorite. My psn is dustyAPE1. See you guys online.

Welcome to the forums, Trackripper, and to Wipeout HD!

Let me say that it is no strange thing that you are finding it a harder time on HD than on Pure. They are as different as night and day. I remember migrating over to WOHD and one night thought I would play myself some Pure. I never crashed and banged into so many walls in my life.

Take your time getting adjusted. Do the campaigns and most importantly the trophy requirements, they will sculpt you into an Ace.

Again, Welcome!

Welcome to new folk.

FYI - I just merged several new member intro threads into one as I'd like to keep them all on one place as much as possible, so that's why this one doesn't make so much sense and there are a couple of double posts that aren't actually double posts.

More info in the first post of this thread.

Hi! I got this game free which to me made up for the month + outage. Thought I'd join up and learn the ins and out.

One issue i have with the game is on the speed laps where you use the boost into a new lap to get the best time - seems a little odd as you have to have do one slow lap then one fast one.

Also, does anyone else think the zone battles are really easy compared to the rest of the events?

But on the whole this is a great game, really need to sort out my cornering though.

Hi there 4tonmantis and JT! Welcome to the zone :)

4tonmantis - I agree, the AI aren't very good at Zone Battle. Get online though and there are some terrifying players. I reckon it's my favourite mode online as luck plays a smaller part, so you rarely feel hard done by. Well that and Weapons Off races anyway.

Hi all, I've been a lurking for quite some while, thought I'd take the opportunity to say hello. I've met many of you on the track, you may have been bemused that someone who spends so much time pinballing from wall to wall keeps coming back for more...
Started with eliminators, as befits a prole like me, and have decided to embrace racing. Still searching for my craft, the Fury EGX has it at the moment, but we'll see as time passes. I'm looking for people to learn the ropes with, both skilled and learners. Weapons off races seem attractive too - maybe we can organise a loose group for this?
To my eternal shame, I neglected to think of a cool name for my PSN ID,and, as such, I'm Andy, and my favourite number is 53.
I look forward to racing with you,
Regards

I'm a cool dude! Excellent! Cheers Syco :) Just had a few weapons off races, Flatflasat and Erich were there - very fast. Got left with an empty room very quickly though, this seems to be the case with races more than elims, at first impressions. Sometimes people quit only a few seconds into a race, very frustrating. I think we have met Flint', hope it was everything you hoped for. Thanks for the welcome, Andy

Hi everyone !
I'm new here, but not new to the Wipeout world. I discovered the game with the demo of one of the first games (don't remember which one) on PSone, I really started with Wipeout Fusion (PS2), I've been playing on Pure and Pulse and just started seriously playing online with Wipeout HD (thanks to the Welcome Back package). I think I've played against some of you already (yes, that's me waaaaaaay behind :g). I'm okay on the basic tracks but I really need training on the reverse tracks (Sebenco Climb reverse is my nightmare). I'd love to find players who'd like to play without weapons. Unfortunately nobody seems interested, but I keep trying ! :twisted Feel free to add me on the PSN (ID: Nemark ^^) and see you in the game ! :nod

Hi and welcome Nemark! :)
Well, I like "weapons off" races, if you detect me online, feel free to add and/or invite me. I´m infrequently online, but there are many other pilots in this forum who like to do this kind of race.
The last race (the last one I remember!) of this sort was hosted by slow-train. Which race class do you prefer? If it is phantom, I´m out... ;) But everything below is fine with me!
See you on the tracks, maybe...

I´m not new to the series; played WipEout PurE, loved it. But here´s the thing, I crash way too often into walls and I don´t understand why. No problems with the airbrakes either, sensitivity set at 10%.

I can´t even come 7th place on a simple track like Modesto Heights rev on Phantom elite :(( ¿Any tips?

5th July 2011, 03:02 PM
Hola que tal, I would suggest maybe upping the sensitivity to 50% or maybe a little higher than 10%... Maybe the extra airbraking sensitivity could be causing overcompensation into turns. Just a thought.:+

Welcome to the site! I'd recommend that every new person do a search for the threads where members discuss different control input, button setups, etc. It's very helpful no matter how long you've been playing wipeout, as HD has so many different types of settings (full analog vs. nearly digital, trigger airbrakes vs. button, etc.)

Try that! And enjoy the place. :)

Another new racer (of sorts, I'm actually an old git) here, I was seriously into 2097 years back and thanks to the PSN Welcome Back pack I have rediscovered my long-lost love for Wipeout.

I'm gradually getting the hang of racing in Flash but I'm now looking to take the step up to Rapier, and thanks to HellfireWZ's vids I recently made a zone 92 on Syncopia.

I'm not new but no one really knows me... well I played Wipeout since I was little, Pure my first W'O. I liked the game since then and got Pulse, 64, Wipeout, Wip3out and HD. I'm a weird racer because to air brake, I set it to square and circle. I play W'O in a poor community (it's safe here, don't worry) and the only HD player here. I want to represent, put where I live on the W'O map. I came to WOZ to learn skills and make friends but, it's the other way around.

The things that have forums that I am on are those that have seen a decline in my fandom towards them.
If I am to use WipEout as an example,I was quite drawn in when I first played it on the Saturn(2097/XL).That was when I was 3-5 years old.
After that,my fandom declined. It was not until Pure where my interest slowly climbed back up.However, when I was playing Pure(I think mine is the crippled no-expansion version(region 3)),I was quite shaky.
When Pulse was to be released,I was very hyped up.
December 2009,got a PS3,and bought HD(Fury was already out) on the PSN. Remembered seeing the Blu-Ray disc version, but heck to it.
Interest in WupEout has never been this HIGH.
Welcome to those new pilots who have joined the "Anti-Gravity Pilots' Association(AGPA)",be sure you have thoroughly read through the "New Recruits' Manual" (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/announcement.php?f=9).

Hi, I'm Granpire Viking Man, but you could call me GVM or Granpire if you like.

I was introduced to Wipeout with Pure, then Pulse. I liked Pure, but it was Pulse that really got me devoted to the series. I spent hours trying to beat each grid on the hardest difficulty, and Zone mode was a big new feature for me.

So I guess you could say I'm not a newcomer to the Wipeout series, but I only just got HD with the Welcome Back package. I carried over all my experience and love for the series though, and I'm proud to say I have the Elite Campaign Legend trophy. I'm still struggling with beat Zico, and I have to sharpen my Zone skills.

Strong spelling and grammar are important to me, and I hope to contribute to the community in the future.

Ah, I see. The images on that thread!

It's full of great info, but it's hard to track down what I really want to see.

I guess it's almost over? How long does it usually take for the next tournament to start?

I'm not sure what it is you want to see...there are just three matches left. In the first post there's a link to a separate WOHD Cup website, where individual match results are posted by Cloud.

The "next one" will be whatever event anyone here with the time, resources, and friends list to organize something similar. I'd guess it won't be anything this size again, at least for awhile!

Well, I guess I'm the new guy here. Playing this game for a few days, I believe this game should have class races, have all four speed classes race together to see who's the best in class. That would be awesome.

Well, in my case I'd not be tagged as a "New pilot" since I've been playing the Wipeout series for over three years :P, but I think I should say "hi" as a newcomer member I am in this community.

I was introduced to this series with Wipeout 3 when my father bought the game a load of years ago. Until 2009, I'd not play any of the Wipeout series until I've known Wipeout HD (Wipeout Fusion didn't take my atention and I don't have a PSP, just letting you know ;)); from that day I've been playing it until today and I'm still on it.

You'll see my English is far to be perfect but I always try to speak it as best as I can, and I'll try to contribute to the community for whatever you need. :)

Hi everybody! my friend morfeo talked to me today about this forum, saying that here are most of good people in Wipeout, so i registered a while ago.
I am not new in Wipeout HD, in fact i own the game since december 2008, but i am relatively new in Wipeout HD online, as i had only make no more than 30 races until the Welcome Back issue, when i really started playing online this game and when i met morfeo, who helped me a lot in order to improve by teaching me some "tricks" (basically places where turbos should be used).

And now my short story with Wipeout games. Well, ive got just two: Pure and HD. The curious thing is that although i liked Pure, it disappointed me in some way in the end, and i thought i would never play a Wipeout again. Until one boring christmas day i went to psn store and downloaded Wipeout HD demo. I loved it since the first race (mmm what a lovely control with the triggers), did about thirty races that morning and bought it in the afternoon of the same day, being my first buy at store.

I got the platine trophy on summer 2009, and spent over 100 hours playing zone in Anulpha, so addictive game mode. I only focused on Anulpha zone (for a long time i needed to play at least one zone before going to bed) and missed many aspects of the game: online, reverse tracks, fury tracks, zone battle...Thankfully i was lucky in meeting morfeo in a finally non-celebrated wipeout tournament on a spanish forum.

I hope to play with people here and share experiences. Sorry about the brick above :p never late to practice my bad english, as you will have noticed.

My id is "oliver_fighter7"; i dont like it, but i feel some stupid nostalgy and still use it.

I'm that new guy. I've rarely played the game but yet I came to love it.

My person favorite teams are AG-Systems for it's handling, and Auricom for it's speed.

My poor style might be due to the fact that I'm used to locomotive controls so much. They are step based like notch one, notch two, etc.

Got any tips?

I played the first Wipeout back in the day on PS1, and got out of gaming for about 10+ years. Picked up a PS3 in 2007, and bought Wipeout HD the first day it was released on PSN.

It is amazing that a game that has been out for for nearly four years has still held my attention.

I started a new PSN account and have been playing this game a lot lately. Just turned off the assists and am re-discovering this game all over again. I love it.

Just wish that more people gave this game a chance. Seems like I am the only person on Friend List that plays it. I am so happy to find this website. :)

Hello peoples. :)

I think I used to play Wipeout on the original PSone quite a while ago. Although, considering how many PSone games there were, remembering which one it was is the hard part. I didn't get any of the PS2 games though, since I didn't hear of them. I did, however, get Pure for the PSP which I used to have. It was quite fun.

Fast forward a couple of years later, when the PSN was going back up. Since Wipeout HD and Fury was one of the games available for free, I decided 'why not' and went to download them. I never regretted that desicion since then. :) So far, I've gotten all the Fury gold medals and I'm still trying to get the HD gold medals. My favourite mode would be either Eliminator or Zone (Both variants). The teams I use are Feisar (my standard racing craft for all competitive racing activity) and Icarus (for speed racing activities, i.e. Speed Lap, Time Attack).

I also see the original is available on PSN, so I hope to one day get that

Hey everybody! I'm D_1998_BR and I'm not so new on the WipEout series...
Started playing WipEout 64 (i was just a kid,i don't remember which track or which ship i used to play with).
Bought a PS2 and got WipEout Pulse for it,but still didn't complete,as time advances i got a PS3 and got WipEout HD from the Welcome Back package :P

As ever,WipEout HD really got into me,for now I'm the best brazilian player in the game (I think, since I don't know a brazilian player that beats me...for now...rodex10 is quite close to,but he screws up a bit on some tracks and gives me 2 more secs gap most of the times.).

Level 33,Master III and rising, used to have all HD skins and half of the Fury skins, but my WipEout data went corrupted and i lost everything...

Started just like everyone,a wall-riding noob, but learned quite fast (thanks to JFthebestJan and P_Denton) the game's tricks and tips.I Transcended before getting Data Corrupted,so now i'm a level 5 in the PSN.

That's all you have to know from me for now.Feel free to add me on PSN: D_1998_BR

~D~

EDIT: Level 37,Elite II for now.

Sure took some time to get verified, a whole week actually.
Anyways, I've been a fan of series ever since I've played, yep all two of them. Pure has been my first WO game and I thoroughly enjoy it, up until the AI left me in the dust, and after the whole PSN fiasco I got HD for free and I haven't regretted my decision since.

As for teams, the two that I usually stick with is AG Systems and Harimau if things start getting rough with the elite AI, and as for my piloting skills, well let's just say I'm an okay competitor, I can get perfect laps here and there but I think my greatest weakness is that I rarely use barrel rolls since the AI tends to bombard me after it and I almost never use sideshifts since if I do it will throw off my handling and get me a bit disoriented.

Well that's about it when it comes to WO, so I hope I'll enjoy my stay even though it's kind of dead in here.

Myth, it took me less than 12 hours, guess the admins or mods just like me better!

I started out playing Wipeout 64, played the life out of it really, and then played Fusion when I found it. Didn't have as much time with Fusion.

I just found out about Wipeout HD less than a month ago, and I was stoked, I had feared that the series was dead. I've been playing as Auricom mostly, Assegai here and there. I ran an eliminator race with Feisar because I used to rock with it on 64, they're so slow and have decent shields, so you can sit right behind the pack and hammer them. I was surprised because the HD Feisar doesn't suck like it used to.

It's still slower than most, but it isn't so crushingly weak in the speed department.

Anyway I'm still getting my anti-gravity racing legs back, honestly I'm still using pilot assist, thinking I'll probably get the feel of the tracks and ships much faster if I turn it off.

I've got the same name on PSN, if anyone wants to add me, do it up!

Hello fellow pilots! I am Crusher, I mainly stick to Motorstorm and high contact racing games (Destruction Derby FTW) but WipEout is still quite high on my racing agenda. I used Assegai Dev. to win all the original and fury races in HD but I have moved to Feisar for the elite difficulty, I also like AG-Systems' paintjob the most out of the ships on offer. I am a very fast racer, against many experienced players I can still hold my weight (My mate wins all of our races but I still get the fastest laps!).

Hello, my name is Lloyd and my PSN ID is Lioyd2k4. Wipeout HD is my first Wipeout title, and I have to say it's one of the best racing games I've ever played. I recently finished off Elite Campaign Legend in the original HD Campaign mode. My experience racing is solely on vanilla tracks going forward; I have not had much time to try out reverse mode tracks and Fury tracks, so if I'm slacking online on these, I'm sorry for my lack of experience. :'(

Recently I started the Fury Campaign, and I'm having a lot of trouble beating the Elite AI on Zone Battle. Why does it seem like they accumulate zone boost and zone levels faster than is possible according to how many boost pads are on the zone track? It seems like it's either bugged or I'm just missing something very obvious on how to win.

Thanks and hope to race some people online. I love Wipeout HD!

Colonel
12th December 2011, 11:02 PM
Hi Lloyd, welcome to the Zone. You'll get there with Zone Battle, it just takes some practice. Try to make sure your Zone bar is full before boosting (a pretty obvious tip but worth saying nonetheless).

I'm doing some (Elite) Fury Campaign Legend videos at the moment, they should be up on my YT channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/GaddafiColonel) in the next couple of weeks :)

13th December 2011, 06:46 AM
Focusing only on a few tracks is best when learning this game. It was nearly two months before I touched any track in reverse, and it was even longer before I raced the Fury tracks. Also, once you get used to the faster speed classes and even if you prefer them, don't neglect learning new tracks on the slower speed classes. In fact, make sure to race familiar tracks on the slow classes from time to time.

Hey all,

I don't think I've introduced myself yet. I'm Phil, 20 years old from Bristol, UK. Currently in my second year at University.

I'm a fan of Wipeout, but I play the older games:
Wipeout 1
Wipeout 2097
Wipeout 3 Special Edition
Wipeout 64
Wipeout Pure
Wipeout Pulse

Out of all of these, I play Pure the most, but I think 2097 is the best (I only got it recently). My team loyalty depends on what game I'm playing! However, I tend to gravitate towards AG Systems.

I don't have a PS3. It was a toss up between Forza and Wipeout, and Wipeout lost :P I have a 360. Unfortunately apart from Quantum Redshift, which I can play via backwards compatability, there seems to be no equivalent to Wipeout on the Xbox :(

Anyway, it seems like you have a great community here :)

I played the original Wipeout but not much. I picked up WipeoutHD when PS+ had it free with fury content. I played it for a while and lost interest. However I recently started playing again and couldn't put it down. I finished the whole campaign on elite, the tourny in meltdown about made me flip my lid.
Went straight to the fury and finished it as well. One more trophy to go and, you know it has to be Bling brigade.
Ran across this place and thought I might pick up a few tips and tricks etc. if I decide to move on to another WO game.

Pilots, Racers, and Team Managers, alike, I am Arch, short for Archibald. I was cast into the year 2116 with my friends due to a freak accident with my singularity generator. It was at the time of the F7200 Racing League pre-season. Where the owner of the FEISAR team, Vincent De Blanc, was in jeopardy of retaining the team's standings. The league committee, was threatening to pull the plug on FEISAR, so I decided to pitch in, and race for them. Currently, I'm undergoing simulated training and practice. I can't wait to pull the team out of the hole!

And, that's my fursona, I was Role-Playing as. I'm Nicholas Manuel, and I'm the author of Total Wip3out, an interactive fanfiction. Aside from that, I'm also a freelance composer. I'm thinking about making my own music for the race footage I capture. I use Music Creator 6, not as good as FL Studio, but it was all I could afford.

The raw footage has some imperfections, but that's what Vegas Pro is for, cropping and adding music to my game footage.

By the way, my copy of Wip3out died on me a long time ago. So, I'm using an ISO of Wip3out Special Edition I downloaded.

I hope you welcome me with open arms.

Oh wow, I first registered here over 10 years ago and the account still works.

Well, it's been about that long since I've played a Wipeout game, so it might be prudent to re-introduce myself. I love arcade-style racing games and I've especially been playing Ridge Racer Turbo with the neGcon. I've been focusing on time attacking (in fact, I have a forum dedicated to arcade-style racing games and time attacking them, I would love to see you people there, but I don't want to spam) the few tracks in the game, and I'm so in love with the neGcon I thought I should try the controller with the series the controller is so closely associated with. So I went and ordered WipeOut XL, which should be arriving shortly. I hope that's a good place to start, I'm not that interested in racing against the AI, time attacking is where it's at for me.

Hi all pilotes. I forgot to introduce myself when I registered on wipeout zone.I rectify the matter.
I'm a fan of wipeout since wipe3out on ps1, the game had me stuck squarely, too fast, too good, too technical and too fast!
I have the virus since: wipeout 2097 (well but I prefer 3) Wipeout Fusion (nice circuits but special steering ) and wipeout hdfury (the top but less beautiful circuits).
Historically I ride with assegai, now with ag-system or yellow gotecki'45 for photos!
is the chance that has done me community wipeout find on the net (I was looking for a way to lifting the last trophy bling brigad ).
I'm glad to have found wipeout wipeout zone and arena, I believed to be alone, my friends have never hooked to the concept of wipeout, I do not understand them elsewhere!
I play quite often at this time in order to get better and beat the best but it is not that, I sometimes feel like reaching my limits!
Here, otherwise I love music (rock, metal, punk), travel, sports, nature, party, and many more!
and of course racing at high speed without gravity!
See you soon

Alright Wipeouters. I'm new to Wipeout - HD/Fury is the first one I've ever played. I started at the beginning of 2012 and still have the 4 main gold trophies left. There are 3 Elite races I can't do - Phantom Tournament, Phantom Chenghou race and Rapier Sol 2 time trial. Not sure why this last one is proving such a problem - I can do barrel rolls in 3 places, but half the time with each one I fail. I'm loving Zone mode. It's a great idea and I haven't seen anything like it in any other game. I can get to about zone 65 on Syncopia easily, though I then seem to get the jitters and start bouncing all over the shop.

HD/Fury is the best racing game I've ever played. Particularly like the precision controls, superb attention to detail, proper level of skill required, lack of silly stuff like unlockable ships and cutscenes, wide variety of modes and extremely challenging online competitors and leaderboards.

Enjoying reading the posts on this forum. It's good that people here love Wipeout rather than love whinging.

Hope you see you online sometime. Forgive me for not being very good.

Hi there c: I started playing the original Wipeout as a kid, Bought Pure and Pulse for the PSP and I've recently rediscovered the games, so to speak. I started to check out wipeout related stuff online and I ended up here and it seems to be an interesting and decent community so yeah, I decided to join ^^;

Hi there Boorargh, welcome to the Zone. I think most of us just stumbled in here when Googling Wipeout stuff so you're not alone ;)

Edit: Open letter to existing members - ten seconds and four words required to welcome new members to the site, such little effort for something that's essential to our community. Can we please up our game a bit on this? Cheers.

Greetings and good evening everyone!

My name is Mark (aka LightningRacer on PSN), and my time of lurking these forums are over, I finally got my behind in gear and got my account activated, and I'm very excited about joining this fine community.

Many of you may have seen me online on Wipeout HD, I tend to stick to Single Race lobbies at either Rapier or Phantom class, but I will play the odd Elimination round if there is nothing else going down.

I've been a massive fan of the Wipeout series ever since my Dad introduced me to the first one back in 1998 (When I was only 6 years old), and ever since I've been hooked on the awesome games that are Wipeout, although admittedly I completely bypassed the titles released on the PSP since I'm not the biggest fan of it and never bought one, so all the tracks in HD were completely new to me :D

I may also be one of the few people on these forums that think Wipeout Fusion is an amazing game, I know it has received quite a lot of criticism over the years but I have invested an ungodly amount of hours into that game, which considering it is a purely offline game, is quite amazing (I don't even want to consider what it would have been like if it had online multiplayer capabilities!!!)

Anyway, I came here primarily for the chance to make some friends that are active on Wipeout HD, I only have one or two on my friends list currently and I know I encounter a few people quite often and was wondering if they were on these forums, as they all provide some stiff competition and enjoy racing each and every one of you :D, but I'm more than happy to meet people who are just as eager to play the game as I am!!

I recently purchased a Hauppauge HDPVR, which I've been testing on my Playstation 3. Thus, if you have been in my lobbies as of late it is more than likely I have our races recorded, but maybe not uploaded. However, I'd be more than willing to record and upload any races that you would like, simply hit me up with a message on PSN and ask me, it's really no trouble at all!

If you'd like to check out my YouTube channel, it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Downing125

I'd be willing to accept anyone both on YouTube and PSN as friends, and if you add me or sub me please send me a message and I'll return the favours straight away.

Finally, may I say I'm glad to be here and I eagerly await meeting both old opponents and new friends!

tl;dr - I'm new, hi.

Mark.

Hi all,

I'm Pete a.k.a Nosamp or 2Beards (a pic will explain if required) from Essex in the UK.
I'm old and I mostly play on my Xbox……. not a great opener I agree but bear with me….

I used to play wipEout years back (from the original up to Fusion) but slowly got tempted from PS to XB by the game releases etc *hangs head in shame*. Anyhoo I recently went to the Eurogamer Expo, spoke to Ami from Studio Liverpool (yeah I know it's gone…. WTF?) and realised how much I'd missed it.

So I went home dusted off the old PS2 and stuck in all the games and did a lap on each…… über!
Unfortunately I have lost my games saves but I've just bought a component cable and am looking forward to some better quality racing.

Oh and apparently if I'm a good boy I'll be getting a PS3 from Santa….get in!
So I'll fill in my PS details then :D

Funnily enough I won a Vita earlier on in the year on a trip to Sainsbury's head office (promo in the foyer for the Vita) for the fastest lap on 2048 (I think all the decent pilots didn't have a go!), unfortunately our fidge @ home broke so I sold it to get a new one…….. yeah I know, crap eh?
Anyhoo I got a trophy (I'll post a pic if you like :D )……. yeah, nice, whatever!
I should have seen the signs then but I've never been a massive fan of portable gaming, I like BIG!

So here I am, back to the party, a little late and it looks like everyone else is drunk, drank all the booze and the police are about to raid the place, but I'm gonna enjoy it while I can!

Cheers

I forgot to introduce myself. WipEout newbie, never played with it before WipEout HD, and I got my PS3 a couple of months ago. So yes, I'm REALLY a newbie. But I'm almost done with Elite campaign, all gold medals, so I'm the happiest newbie around you might say. Still have to buy Fury, though.

Well, enough of it.

I have to admit I usually am not a fan of racing games, I get bored pretty soon. WipEout HD is something different, maybe is the fighting, maybe is the inhuman speed. Don't know, I just love it.

Hello Wipeout fanatics :D

As a kid, i would always play wipeout 2097 and loved it. Unfortunately, that was the only wipeout game that i had until i got wipeout HD in the welcome pack. I fell in love with wipeout all over again, and bought every single wipeout game. From the first wipeout to 2048. I play them all as much as i can. My most favourite titles are Wipeout 3 SE, Pure, and HD/Fury.

Anyway, I'm most probably best at playing HD/Fury. I have beaten half of both HD and Fury campaigns on elite difficulty, have yet to finish them :) You could say that my skill level is just a bit higher than the elite AI, because im finding it a bit easier to beat them just recently.

On HD, im struggeling a bit with the tracks sebenco climb reverse and chengou project reverse.

So i dont think im a that of a good pilot compared to all of you on here, but im sure with practice i could become better :) By the way i am only 14 years of age.

Hey, all! New HD/Fury pilot here. I'm really fresh to the online races.

HD/Fury was my introduction to the series, thanks to the psn blackout in spring 2011. The trophies on this game looked challenging, so I dove in. I'm still hunting, lol.. only missing "Bling Brigade" to go platinum!

I'm glad to see such a lively community around here! I've mainly been racing in the Flash and Rapier classes, Eliminator and Single Race types. So if any of those are your bag, send me an add! PSN ID: boblovesmaryann

Hello Everybody!

I'm Rau-Lin from Spain, and although I've been following this forum for so long time (since Wipeout Pure) I've never had the courage of writing (I'm sorry if I don't write too well in English).

Anyway, I'm actually playing Wipeout 2048 as I recently bought a Ps Vita (my psp broke) and of course, the first game I had to buy was Wipeout. I'm having really fun (also bought the expansion hd and fury) and although I don't like too much the multi (too many combats, the worse thing in my opinion of the last wipeouts) I have really fun comparing the race results and the speed laps records with my friends, but there are not so many of them that play this game.

I would like to have more Wipeout fans friends at PSN, and I couldn't find an exclusive thread for this question (psn friends).

If anybody enjoy adding me in the list of friends to compare times or may find ourselves anytime to make some races my PSN ID is the same as my name here: Rau-Lin

Thanks to everybody!

Smashing intro, welcome Rua. I'll send you a friend request, from PSN ID Erik_Ponti :)

Edit - A lot of the Spanish players I'm friends with apologise for their English. It's absurd, they all speak fantastic English, and even if they didn't I'd be eternally grateful for them trying. So please, don't ever apologise for your English, it's a privilege to me that you speak it at all. I hope that doesn't sound wrong, I'm pretty smashed.

Thanks to all of you for those kind and warm words of welcome :nod

It's true that we, people from Spain, have the complex of speaking bad English, but I think it's probably due to the fact that the common English level in this country is just so poor.

Anyway, I'm actually playing that Wipeout 2048, trying to get all the elite pass in the single campaign. Those damn zone events are driving me crazy :? I don't know what will happen when I get to start with the A+ races... not to talk about that "beat Zico" trophy (who is this Zico? and why does he drive so fast?).

Thanks again to everybody, and to say goodbye I'd like to share a pair of pics I made playing Wipeout (love this function):
