The WZ Trophies

[Oryx Crake]

Since most of us who are still active on HD have already attained transcendence this is a list(that will grow so please post suggestions) of Small challenges like trophies on psn that we ourselves come up with.

Here are the rules:

in order to qualify for a trophy you will have to be able to prove that you have in fact performed the task, either by video taping the doing of said task or by picture evidence that you have completed the task.

So to start things off

This is rock hard, I failed to get a lap time of under a minute, and even the least able of online players are a damn sight quicker than that.

I elected to use the sitting upside down method, it was a flash race at Metropia, and the three rank 1 players I was racing finished a good 15 seconds ahead of me. Oh and I had a massive headache afterwards. More practice needed!

Cool as a cucumber
Hard enough trying to get the glass to stay on my head in the first place. I lasted til the second corner before getting myself, and the sofa, covered in water :(. Different glass needed!

Actually that does sound ace. I guess you'd need to do several laps with your eyes open, counting out the timing between turns, until you were confident enough to attempt it blindfolded. I'm gonna give it a try and see how I get on.

And by the way Oryx, good effort for starting this. Such a great idea it makes you wonder why nobody thought of it before, it's added even more replay value to the game. Nice work :)

Woah lots of updates this time probably should've made this 2 threads, one for suggestions for trophies and one for results and reports. BUT! screw it I'm enjoying this and I hope you are too!

Anyways updates finished, now I should stress that even if you dont own a video camera you can do at least some of the challenges the rolling with badtester for example since a screen shot of the results will till us all that we need to know.

Keep at it guys lets put some more replay value into this game! (not that it needed any)

Jan's "King of the mountain" is impossible if you ask me. I mean that's nearly Supersonic at Sebenco Climb; nobody will ever achieve that, I'd put my house on it.

Oh and I reckon the Syncopia blindfolded one is also a no-goer (without a navigator). I had a go at it the other night and couldn't get past Zone 4! Gonna try it this weekend with a friend giving me instructions, should give me a fighting chance at least.

@jan Alright I want to be accommodating here so what parts are you not ok with? Bare in mind that the original idea was that these would be hard but not so hard that only 10 people in the world could do it, which is why I changed them in the first place.

zone 150 on syncopia is not easy, so it would be a very hard gold :)

I've just looked on the rankings website and a grand total of 23 people have got to Zone 120 at Syncopia. Given that it's the second most popular track for Zone, that makes 120 a pretty rare achievement if you ask me. I've done over 5,000 laps at Syncopia and the highest I've got to is 109.

I think the Zone Valhalla trophy is a good one, challenging but do-able with some practice and determination. If the goal was 150 I wouldn't even bother because it's virtually impossible. And I'm pretty good at Zone.

Damn, it's kind of annoying how they do that for old videos when they change the rules and yet don't inform me.

I think the Scared of heights is probably one of the most deceiving. I really didn't think it would be that hard, but I always seem to only end up 4 seconds ahead when the times come up. In one race I was 4.9 seconds ahead at the final sector. I picked up a boost on the final speed pad and used it straight away to cross the line. Still I only managed around a 4 second differential. I'm not sure I could every get myself into a much better position than that. Stupid AI.

I had a go at "Sir Spamalot" last night, according to Jan's rules, against Novice AI at Mallavol. Online this trophy would be impossible, but in Racebox I pretty much did it first time. In hindsight I think the revised rules (max boost 5) for this trophy are a bit easy to be honest. NOT criticising, just my opinion. Anyway...

Sir Spamalot:In Zone Battle Mode, reach Zone 55 and win the race on any track. You must immediately boost or absorb whenever possible.

I had an idea yesterday for a WOZ trophy =

Classic Player's Classic: Win an online 12 race tournament with a minimum of four players, in a standard race (weapons, barrel rolls, PA all on) but without using any barrel rolls and only using green weapons.

(You knew this was coming admit it...;) )

When I tried this yesterday it was harder than today...I doubt it's even possible unless you're in a room full of noobs. So today to make it interesting I combined the Classic Player's Classic with the Stop Motion and the B-52 challenges. This made it much more interesting...but my camera began to die, and I suspect the poor people I was racing were at the least annoyed by me. I would be if I was them. So I don't know whether to recommend this as a trophy or not...:twisted

Are the ones that don't specifically say online or offline limited to one? Or are the ones that don't say online only for offline elite AI?

. i don't remember for this run , but i can tell you some numbers of my 161 zones record : 111 laps (must be around 85-90 perfect laps) , 131 perfect zones , 549 km , 27 minutes of playing and more than 1 milliard of speed pad ( lol this is a bug happening after zone 150) and max speed of 2009 km/h . So , indeed speed increasing after 75 ;) .


So it looks like 75 perfect laps is certainly possible :)

of course it's possible to do 75 perfect laps in zone mode, otherwise i would not suggest such a trophy. im sure it's possible to do more than 161 zones in total, AND more than 100 perfect laps in total, but it's for sure the damn hardest thing 1 can do.

what do u think is the reason i made several sub 26zico times? well, cause i want to do the ultimate time (a time every1 would consider to be unnatural). still a whole sec to cut off, if not more! im never really pleased with a result i get, so i have to go on and better myself (that's motivation deluxe). im always criticising myself more than any1 else, this way is imho the best to learn fast.

Well, I wanted to try to "Perfect" the Fury tracks after spending so many months working toward Arcade Perfect. I started racing Talon's Junction with weapons off and won it on my first try. I proceeded through them as usual and activated some hidden powers or something because I won all 8 Fury tracks first try, weapons off. So I thought I'd post to see if anyone wanted to try for fun. I guess you could do them as single races or in a Racebox tournament, but the idea for Fury Perfect is to win them all in a row, first try. Arcade Perfect is longer and much more difficult (dare I say too difficult) to earn them all in a row, first try. Also note running them in a Tournament rather than as Single Races would place you at the back of the pack at the start of every race.

The Fury tracks are very interestingly designed where they either don't allow a ton of barrel rolls, or the risk is ridiculous because of the track difficulty (Modesto's tunnel section or TDR's bridge). This makes weapons off seem most interesting. Your rolls must be worthwhile and you line must be perfect, as one mistake means your lead is lost and so is your health.

The Fury tracks seem almost claustrophobic, where you can use mines or rockets to take out many opponents in a cluster and zoom ahead. There is little randomness aside from which power-up you'll get as all will be of benefit. The original HD tracks made me experiment with using weapons or turning them off, and whether I would use my standard Furymau ship or switch to the original AG-Systems for some tracks (CHENGHOU). Hell, I used OG Qirex for both Sebencos!

The idea is to do all Fury tracks in a row, however. That's where the difficulty for this trophy lies. And the standard Arcade Perfect remains as is, as it is plenty difficult already :g

Me neither, but there's already the Campaign tournament having you do the Fury 4 forward, then reverse. This variation also fits my tournament preference where I run one track forward and back before moving onto a new track.

I agree. This WZ trophy is more an endurance challenge. Seriously, running TDR front to back at the end of a tournament is exhilarating!

Sorry about that Ragsus, my bad. I spent a few hours updating it this week, which included adding some of the challenges people have suggested (not all of them mind you). Also, some of the trophies have been tweaked slightly, where they were deemed to be too easy, or plain impossible.

With regards to Sir Spamalot, I'm afraid this has been restored to Jan's initial objective of boosting whenever possible, like when we play spam races online. So you're gonna have to re-do this one mate, sorry. I left Billy on there because his video has been deleted and I couldn't see which method he'd used.

Despite I haven't even tried any of HD's trophies (because I haven't got a proper savegame in my current PS3, therefore I'm only playing with Vita... but I promise I'll do some of them in the future!), I thought exporting the trophies to 2048 wouldn't be a bad idea to expand its value. I mean, not copypasting the trophies here, but making an entire new list of trophies for 2048 players (however, we could borrow a trophy from here, like the "Beat Zico" that appears in both games).

Anyways, if you (Colonel and Onyx) want to make the idea go further, message me! I could be responsible of these trophies using basically the same rules as you (along someone else if possible) :)

it's a fun trophy terra but it's hard to use as it's based on the presupposition that you are able to find xx333. and we don't know how long they'll be around.

I breached 75 on Syncopia. I can consistently pass 50 on a few tracks, Anulpha Reverse and Forward, Vineta K Reverse, and Mallavol was around 65. I was working on passing Zone 50 on all tracks but cut back on playing Playstation all together once I started my job. As a way of "training" myself for Zone Battle I wanted to reach Zone 50 on every track and, as I talked about in the Zoner's Challenge thread, attempt 20 "perfect score" laps on every track.

I am not naturally skilled at Zone. The challenge of the mode is to adjust to the increasing speed, yet I struggle with some of the half-speed classes. For example, I pilot worse in Super Zen than I do in Sub-Sonic. I suspect this is due to certain speeds being multiples-and-a-half of a speed. Sub-Rapier and Sub-Phantom feel just as weird but are slow enough to not matter as much.

Not at the moment, but it is okay to use a co-pilot giving you instructions. I'm going to test both tonight and I'll get back to you, might be worth changing it to include reverse view.

P.S I'll move these two posts to the discussion thread in the HD section. I know it's a bit fiddly jumping between the two threads, but it keeps the master thread nice and tidy.

Ok so I've done some testing and I'm convinced we should allow the reverse view for Zoned Out. I tried both methods, first with my eyes closed and my fiance directing me - got to Zone 7 twice then a Zone 8. I used airbrakes only because d-pad was too sharp.

Then I tried it on my own with my eyes open, but only using reverse view. This was again rock hard (because who's ever done Syncopia Reverse?), but after 3 attempts I got to Zone 9, and was beginning to learn the track a bit better.

So in conclusion, anybody who can do it blindfolded with a co-pilot deserves a medal (as does the co-pilot), but using reverse view will also be a hell of an achievement.

Edit - I'm up to Zone 12 after an hour or so of practice. It's mental, it takes so much concentration, if you relax for a second you forget where you are entirely. It's one of the daftest things I've done, but very addictive.

Edit - a few more runs this lunchtime, got to Zone 13, about 3 and a half laps completed. On one of my runs I got a perfect zone!

I'd like to do it this weekend if I can, but I'm not going to stop at Zone 15, I want to get to Phantom and get a perfect lap. This is the awesome, it really is. Come on guys, join me in backwards heaven :g

I think we may have got rid of the 75 perfect laps trophy yes, there were a few that were kind of similar, I can't find it in the current list anyway.

Yes, do record getting to zone 75 without crashing. It's a harder trophy than I gave it credit for, one lapse in concentration and you've wasted 10 minutes.

Surviving the grid is pretty tough because a full grid is rare in Zone Battle. Sadly there wasn't a full grid when we raced at Mallavol, only 6 or 7 players.

Just had a really embarassing moment, (sadly not recorded) but I managed to blow up a bomb with a plasma by accident, which matches the Subtle Defusion criteria, but not only that, it ends up killing the other ship travelling close by, giving the point to whoever used the bomb.

I have accomplished Zone Valhalla, Perfect Zeus and Super Zeus--all on Syncopia. I only have screenshots. No video, unfortunately. My best YouTube run is Zone 118 at the moment. On the Flawless Zeus run (121/97), I made it to Zone 80 before I finally clipped a wall. I can typically make it to Zone 60 with all perfect zones, but a lapse in concentration typically gives me my first hit sometime in Mach 1.
