Thanks KGB for the races. I was a bit nervous before the start and really nervous after that slip up on Ubermall Rev in the first race. It was also fun to race against a Goteki 45 on my own return to piloting a HD Icaras. Now I see what it's like for other people to see the G45 disappear at the start and to have to play catch up. And I'm sure you now know how nerve wracking it is to get that early start and know that a fast ship is hunting you down in that big ugly (but sexy) brick of a ship.:g

The races with Hellfire were great, it would have been nice to record them because of how close they were. I don't have any recording equipment that would have done it justice really.

It's a bit embarrassing to have lost on all my choices, but they were quite close. I saved myself on the last race even though it didn't mean anything by then! Well Hellfire can now look forward to Barnster or Wotan. ;)

Jeeez top 8!!!! So happy right now. ONlock that was an awesome meeting there, really tough races, and what a tech de ra race 3... This set of rocket I got just before the racing line, so lucky! i was so stressed & was near the heart attack all way long lol. I was so bad boi on sol2, felt it was the match point there, so I dropped my only set of mines of the meeting... To seal my victory. Great moments mate, only wipeout can do that to you.

Yes, good races. TDR was intense, I picked up a autopilot on the second to last weapons pad on TDR, and decided I would just cruise in with the autopilot on.. But when I let you have that last weapons pad, I made a big mistake. A big WTF moment!

But in the end I only lost to a better man, so it's all good.

Edit: And I can't forget that he let me restart my 3 races, after I accidentally hit the PSN button in the first shortcut on ubermall when i tried to BR. A true gentleman he is. :)

Ace3 won our match. We didn't complete it. I was nervous as usual. My hands were cold as usual, and so I wasn't doing well. Usually I would settle into things but this time it didn't happen. We started with the green races and I think it just completely threw me because I'm not used to them. I was about to fire a missile and realised I couldn't. Every race I was just fighting my instinct to fire and it made it impossible for me to concentrate. I completely messed up the first race. My hands felt totally frozen at that point. I couldn't concentrate at all after that. I won the first weapons race but the next went very badly and I'm afraid I quit the race. As soon as I stopped I saw how much my hands were shaking and realised how ridiculous it was to even try and race like that.

I'm really annoyed with myself, because I practised quite hard in the run up and then just got completely caught off guard.

Sorry to Ace3 that I sucked so badly and quit, and generally sorry that I've let everyone down.

I'm not sure there's any point in me playing in the HD Cup now. If I can't get around these nerves then I'm not going to do any justice to myself or anyone involved. Bad times!:(

I still wasn't at my best and I just kept missing BRs the whole time, but we had a couple of close races - so overall much better. If it had been more like that the first time it wouldn't bother me so much.

It's not so much about losing though. The main reason I enter these things is to be apart of a community even and keep the game going. That's why it annoys me most because everyone was looking forward to the match and expected an interesting and close game. I even was recording without music so that Ace3 could make a cool picture in picture video with all the action. But I've spoiled that and I've just disappointed everyone now. Especially Ace3, because of the way I quit like a complete tool during Sebenco Rev. That's why I'm unsure about the HD Cup. I don't want to disappoint everyone again. :(

Anyway, doing the friendly game after was good because I realised that Ace3 was just better today, even once I got over most of the nerves. It's a shame we didn't get that one on video because it would have been more fun to watch. I'll probably upload videos still though, just for the guys here. Need to edit them first though.

Let's leave it there for now as I don't want to bring the mood down more. I think Ace3 can definitely win this now, so good luck for the next rounds Ace3. Although I still hope Luxo takes it.;)

Saturn - I know how you feel, as I was exactly the same during my first round in the Avalon Cup. I'm the same as you - I don't like Green Races either and it took me a while to get into it. But by then it was too late and I was beaten.

I'm a bundle of nerves when it comes to events like these and my racing skills suffer because of it. I need somebody to make me think that it isn't an event race when it actually is so I won't be nervous and mess it up!

On anulpha I wasn't here at all, stupid 3brs in a row first lap then missile in my ass ok bye bye duckie gah. 1-0 lux. On Amphi I was uber focused, 1-1. And wtf wth me seriously. I worked zb moa Fwd my ass, and what happens? mid-race my brain disconnect for a stupid shield button remapping (I was leading by far the zb grrr), and couldn't focus anymore til the end of the race. 2-1 luxo.

Then his races. Metropia Reverse, neck to neck, I can only regret a few stupid but minor mistakes, great win by luxo, 3-1. And GAH moa reverse. No coments, cracked down on this stupid turn, can't blame luxo for that, I was slower and my lines weren't perfect at all. 4-1, well deserved victory. then I got him on Sol2 rev, 4-2, but the match was done, and I completely let down on uber rapier, 5-2.

Grrrrr. Well done Luxoflux, you really deserve this victory. I need to deal wth pressure a bit more for the next cup, tbh I think I'm deserving a tight 4-3 defeat there, without the stressing stupid thing. Just need to practice a bit more for the final outcome eh eh.

Hehe, thanks for all the kind words guys :) I got really lucky indeed in Zonebattle cause I was losing by a mile. And im indeed sorry for the sindwinding on moa rev. The game decided that ittle be a good idea to turn us from ghosts to solid state right before that corner.

Thx SR for putting all that weight on my shoulders ;) Thankfully im a pretty relaxed dude so I dont stress out that easily, perhaps that is what got my so far in the cup. arrhhh come on guys, I know it's love & hate there but the man gave us, shared with us a fantastic show so far, he came late to the wo hd party but filled the gap so quickly. We can't blame it, let's just keep in mind the good moments we shared wth him and all together. Can't wait for the next wipeout myself lol.

Agree - plus he had my negativity to deal with after our match. That was probably off-putting in itself. But Ace3 did see out the main tournament. We can't forget all the cool videos and events Ace3 has organised as well. I think we've all had moments where we've given up on this game for one reason or another. We always come back for more eventually though. Ace3 probably will too.

Life gets busy and suddenly everything is all STRESS! Just go take a break until the HD cup, LOL! No, I'm kidding-if you're not eager to play wipEout, don't do it. As much as we're all fanatic about it, in the end it's still just a game. When you really love something you'll come back to it, we'll all be eager to race you when you do. Especially me, since you haven't kicked my butt yet. Cheers!

Hey guys just wanted to cogratulate Luxo and ID for making it the the finals and of course to Luxoflux for winning. Really well done mate , congrats :)
Also i wanted to apologise on behalf of myself and Ace3 for not delivering a runners-up round. Having spoke to him recently, i found we both felt the same during the last rounds of the cup and i myself can say i found it quite stressful. Yeah, unfortunatly the best name ever (Luxoflux) was already taken on youtube and I had serious trouble remembering the password of my previous account ;) So after a looooooong brainstorming session this came out.

Also wanted to say that all the vids have been uploaded to my channel. Really no point in watching race 4, 5 and 6 cause you'll only see me crashing and flying into bombs ;) Last race was pretty epic though

IDReaper really showed what he was all about on his track choices, I cant help but think he picked a couple of tracks that you either dont like, or were rusty on? Ubermall Rev & Modesto mainly :)
The outcome could have had a very different if not for some crucial moments! -- Some amply timed boosts / autopilots you got during the final race, but personally I think you winning that intense battle on Metropia Reverse was absolutely key. ;)

lol kgb, didn't have time to check the vids yet, arh youy guys are teasin me. Just wanted to say a word to Barn there. Mate I truly understand what you said, I know you & Ace3 were in the same mood. I can't blame you guys as it's just a fkin videogame there, and you both gave us so much all through these past few months, or I should say years now, as wohd came in 2008 lol. I've just your seb fwd phantom speed lap time in mind right now eh eh, you bast$ù^ùd. Sure it's bad timing you guys decided to end your tourney before the finish line, but tbh I can't blame you. I see myself the upcoming wipeout hd cup as the definitive grand finale of my gameplay, and tbh after I'll get kicked out by Tar-Elendil, I probably won't come back to hd for a long time (oh maybe a few more speed lap sessions lol). We had such a massive bunch of awesome times all together online since hd release, but everything has an end, and tbh Sony didn't help for anything, as instead of supporting the game they fired people at SL... And let the online rankings being polluted by the stupid glitchers. Wipeout HD is still the best ps3 game so far for me, you can try this experience at home too lol, just put whatever game you want on your hardware, play for 5mn, then launch wipeout hd... WOW! 1080p, 60fps, state of the art stuff... This experience even works with GT5 btw lol. But we can't fight the time, we can't fight Sony's decisions eternally. We can just wait for the next episode.
