Like He-Man on steroids, you have the power in LBP2, and lots of it. (http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/entertainment/games/807323/Like-He-Man-on-steroids-you-have-the-power-in-LBP2-mdash-and-lots-of-it.html)
Like everything else, I'm immensely looking forward to this as much as I was the first. :D

Looking forward to this as I enjoyed the first one a lot. I hope this time around they include a better way to find good levels. I think they improved the original from the way it was at the beginning, but you still seemed to end up finding the same levels too frequently. Who knows what kind of gems might be buried away half way through the list of levels.

is this a whole new game or just an update to the first one?
I don't think we need a new game yet and would prefer just having an update for the original

It's a full game.

It does say it will be backwards compatible with older creations though, and I don't really see that the basic dynamics of the game will change too much. In that sense it's almost like an expansion.

I haven't looked into the info on LBP2 as they haven't released all the details yet, which is unusual for me as it's my favourite game after Wipeout.
From what I understand LBP2 is mainly for the motion controllers.
Over a month now and no PS3, I'm losing touch with what's happening video game wise.
I hope there is still only one LBP online world, if they have a separate one for LBP2, then the LBP1 will languish and die which would be a awful shame.
Oh God,I just had a look, they are going bannanas over a LBP Central about this.
Worth checking out what these guys say about it as they are usually right on the money when it comes to anything LBP, some tasty LBP2 game creation screen shots in some of these posts to check out.

LBP Central forum has already started a LBP2 section.
There is a specific thread called "What we know so far" that has gathered all available information into one place, the Mother Lode so to speak.
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?26555-What-We-Know-So-Far
Some great HD screen shots done in create mode that shows some of the new stuff, [new stickers/ items etc in one of these] as well as quite a few other HD in game shots.
WOW! a lot of changes, it's a 4gig overhaul of LBP :eek, that's why it's been given "2" status, it's too big an update for downloading from the store.
OMG I knew this was going to be good just from what I read about it, but not THIS GOOD! :hyper:hyper:hyper
MM have just released a new trailer, check this out,[ watch for the mouse races with jockey's at 1.30 :eek:lol:lol just amazing ]
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-au/2/
This is going to make LBP2 the most played game on the PS3.
They are holding back some details for later in the year, E3 most likely.
I did find out Mouse & keyboard will be able to be used in create mode, that will make corner editing a lot easier by mouse.

Best thing since sliced bread?
Let's not lose our heads about this. We have to keep things in proportion. The best thing since sliced bread was obviously the sandwich. The best thing since the sandwich was obviously the toasted sandwich maker, particularly the Swan Toasty. I have one. It's very old, and nothing makes a better toasted sandwich. I think if it could make video games, they'd be better than LBP too. :P

Check out at 1.30 [the rat/ mouse races with Jockeys], there are two hexagonal lights on the track, one goes out when the rat runs over it.
Looks like we will be able to add pick-ups.
Here's a good video interview with Alex Evens co founder of Media Molecule explaining LBP 2 and how it should be easier for people to jump straight into the game and start creating.

I just love this titbit from the Community managers.
QUOTE:
Tom Kiss: One of the new features we have is QR Codes. These are digital barcodes which you can print and take with you. You can hand them to your friend, they hold them up to the PSEye and then they’ll be taken straight into the level.
Your own LBP2 calling card. :o
I'll get the complete list of stuff that you will able to do and post it when it's finished, the God's of level builders have spotted heaps of stuff in that video that we mere mortals have missed.

You've probably all already heard about LBP2 mid Nov release.
Some people are eagerly awaiting for GT5, well I'm the same with this.
Not sure if you realize the magnitude of the changes this game has gotten.
It's basically a 4G patch/update to the original but was decided it was too big for a download so it's been released as a sequel.
You are basically encouraged to make different types of games,Platform, RPG,Shooter,Puzzle etc and the Trophies will reflect this.
Have a look at this new trailer that was released today and see some of the very cool new features in action.

I might have to plan some time off work when this comes out. I am thinking it would be good if they have something like top 10 levels each day. Whatever changes they made to the old system, you pretty much always had to go to your PC and surf the interwebs to find the best levels.
I remember the feeling of playing LBP at the start, especially the co-op mode and making new online friends as a result. Hoping for the same again.

I've got 14 or 15 LBP2 beta testers on my friends list.
They have told me [as much as they can reveal anything] that they will basically be test the LBP.me part of LBP2, which starts pretty soon.
Here's some video cam shot footage of a small MM LBP2 presentation from the last E3 showing/explaining LBP.me among other things.
The whole way you search for levels has changed quite a bit [for the better] from what I can gather from this.

Well I managed to get a LBP2 beta trial and have had a brief look around over the last 2 hours and play 3 of the story modes.
BELIEVE THE HYPE!
The sheer amount of changes to what you can now do with the stuff you carry over from LBP1, combined with all the new controls , both local and global would be considered a huge improvement on it's own.
But when you add in all the other stuff like Sackbots ;they can be friend or foe, as large as you like and wear any of your costumes that you like [they don't all have to be dressed the same] and have a vast array of control on how they react, well you just know they are going to be put in everything.
Then you have bounce pads, grappling hook, power glove, creationator [think of a hat that sack wears that has a emitter on it], new novel materials[think of painting with light], having a sticker cutter, control Gravity ....list goes on...and on...and on.
This is one of the few must have titles, it's everything you wish LBP1 was and more, it really is that good.

Sony are running a competition where you can win a paid job creating LBP2 levels.
http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Announcements-Community-Events/Win-a-Job-Making-Levels-on-LBP2-for-PlayStation/td-p/12071393
You have to be based in New Zealand though, which I find astonishing for a couple of reasons, the main one being that the poor gamers in NZ seldom get any competitions or give aways from the Sony Playstation forums.
The pay is NZ$2400 which is around Aus/US$1750, but considering that they will probably be using your level for advertising, and that the "Winner" will most likely be asked to sign a intellectual property waiver for whatever they create, sort of makes me think a bit of exploitation is going down as well.

The guys are holding back building really impressive levels using the LBP2 beta as it gets turned off next week and no levels can be saved.
So there has been little point building masterpieces.
But wait until about 2-3 months after the full version of LBP2 is released, then you will see some amazing levels being published.
A few of the top level builders have started aligning themselves into specific groups that specialize in one area, they intend to work as a mini games studios, plan out a levels theme, look, gameplay etc and work on the level together.
You have your logic experts, the people that can knock up scenery very easily, others that are good with the 3D layer glitch [which still works in LBP2 and I sincerely doubt will be made inoperable], contraption experts, camera/magic mouth/cut scene experts etc.
The only thing I'm a bit apprehensive about is the new logic chips in LBP2.
They can be a lot more powerful than LBP1's logic switches/circuits, and as a consequence be too complicated for some [me] to get their head around.
Here's a level that a mate of mine has made and that MM have being showcasing showing what can be done with the new tools, it started out as a LBP1 level, a clunky one at that [you should of seen the shocker of a logic wiring system he had originally :eek , what a mess] but has transformed into a much more polished level since being imported into the LBP2 beta.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD_qcd0sRGE&feature=related
He's working on a Time Crisis type level at the moment which is coming along nicely.
I should give him a prod to get off the LBP2 beta and have his races in the HD cup, he's drawn LUNA_bgd so I suspect he will be back creating in LBP shortly:P

I won't get my copy till next week now, even though I pre-ordered on the 11th Dec, to add insult to injury I got another email from the store I ordered from saying that they hadn't received the sackboy dolls yet, and they would eventually be sent separately when they get them.:-
I'll never again pre-order via this store, they now have a 2 from 2 stuff up record.
Friends who already have their sackboys say he doesn't look right, he's heads too big and wide and misshapen.
There also appears to be glitches appearing in certain parts of the way sackboy interacts with things, also with controlling him.
It's be attributed to corrupted save data being imported from LBP1 into LBP2,
some have started compiling a list on best practice with this importing of data at LBP Central, so if you have yet to do so, or still haven't got the game and intended to do this, well read this thread below.

Got a copy today in Asda and the (exceptionally) pretty girl at the counter put the cellophane wrapped game on the counter, then started hunting about the drawers and whatnot for something else. I had one earphone in, as I tend to listen to music when I shop to drown out the normal people, but I popped it out to ask what she was looking for.
"Your free mug." She said, "The game comes with a free mug but I can't find where they are."
I wasn't too bothered, but then she found the last one they had and it's a really nice mug - especially for free!
Played a couple of the early levels with my daughter tonight and it was much better than I thought it would be from the demo. The grappling hook adds a great dynamic to the gameplay.
But a trophy for playing after 9pm... seriously, Media Molecule? At least make me download a community level with "earn three easy trophies with this level - please give five stars and heart!!1!" in the description before you give me the easy ones!

the story modes pretty cool, although judging by the amount of hidden trophies its shorter than the first game.
also cool to know that the designers used the same tools we get to make the levels. but also somewhat disheartening that with equal tools they create brilliance and i make rubbish that implodes under its own crapness mid game :lol

Well, you have to practice. For example, I've only made a sliding door (MGS style) and I feel like a GOD :g. But, you keep trying, and eventually, you could find yourself making sometihng magical. Even making something as simple as a water drop can give you an amazing feeling. :)
