This is very interesting news. Guess we'll have to wait until E3 for anything to be definitely confirmed though.

Yesterday I've read some news about a new WipEout, definited as "the real new WipEout for PS3, not the HD's anticipation" (this is the juice of the newd that I've read).
But some of the links of this notice in every website was deleted after two hours: a very good new, too big to be released now?
In every way, am very excited: I don't have a PS3, but something will be released, an episode completely new or simply a new expasion, and this notice makes me very hopeful and happy.
I hope that a new WipEout will come back, but at the same time I hope that the serie will be granted in good hands, and nice creative minds!
EDIT: But I hope that this new project hasn't been cancelled by the SL's redundancies...

Sounds like wishful bullshit to me. Sorry.

Yessss, a new game is still in project, this is an italian link:
http://www.spaziogames.it/notizie_videogiochi/console_playstation_ps3/120357/nuovo-wipeout-all-orizzonte.aspx
It says that a new game was projected (and until this moment this was an unrevealed project), and that Sony was contacted about this new notice.
Let's hope in a new episode, but especially in a new good game, guys!

Sorry for the double post, these are all the details in english:
According to the resume of former Sony employee Martin Linklater -- who now works at Bizarre Creations -- an all-new Wipeout game is in development for the PS3. Linklater's curriculum vitae claims that he was working on the unannounced game prior to the January staff cuts that cost him his job at Sony Liverpool.
"Unreleased Wipeout Project (PS3) - Technical Director," reads the resume. "Responsible for physics and collision system (based on Wipeout Pure), code systems architecture and programming team management."
Recent Wipeout games have had a mixed reception from fans, and a new entry in the series is always welcome. It's not known if this new Wipeout is still in development following Sony Liverpool's layoffs, but it would be highly reasonable to assume that more of the franchise is coming in some way, shape or form. I doubt anybody would be against another installment, either.

Sounds like he was a programmer/coder for the game. Dunno... but CVs tend to amplify/exaggerate a candidates skillset. IMO, he was out of a job and looking for employment when he was sending out his CV.
Now employed at Bizarre Creations though. WipEout is history now.
Good luck Mr Linklater :)

Based on the article Edge magazine did on games studios in Liverpool about two moths, SL are now working on smaller projects. At least that's the impression I got from the Studio Liverpool interview as they mentioned that they were scaling back a bit and there was no mention of a new WipEout game. I'm sure anyone still at SL that come on here could clarify about what they're doing currently, but I wouldn't get too hopeful after what has happened.

Unreleased means just that - unreleased - it was something from the past that was not pursued. Companies do it a lot, look into projects and sometimes stop them or evolve them into something else or even sometimes, release them :D
The article got one thing right though, Linky is now at Bizarre Creations, alongside Karl Jones (Wipeout designer on pure, pulse, HD and lead designer on fury and alround wipeout hero) and myself :D
And several other ex sony bods
Whether or not another Wipeout will ever be made I dont know

Thanks for the clarification Colin. Although quashing a few WipEout based rumours, I'm sure this news will make Blur a more promising prospect for many.

I'm glad to hear that at least some of those who got cut from SL were able to find employment relatively quickly. :)
I remember one of the SL staff putting a link up to what games had been made over the years by SL & Psygnosis when all that went down.
If you look down the bottom right you can see the same game listed as Wipeout PS3 that was mention in Linky's CV.
I had pointed it out back then but it all sort of petered out and never went any further.

I actually read something today about this, apparantly sony liverpool is hiering some sort of lead personality with the intent of making a "futuristic racer" of some kind I dont have the energy to dig out the exact quote at the moment but here's a link to a story about it: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/wipeout/news.html?sid=6282471
p.s.
I actually saw the advert myself reposted on some gaming news site but again to tired at this specific time to dig it out of my browser history.
