View Full Version : Guess the game quote - a fun game about games.
Mr Phlanj
25th November 2009, 06:06 PM
Just for a bit of fun. someone says a game character quote others guess who said it.
Rules:
-One guess per post, no double posting
-For the answer to be correct, it must include the name of the character speaking the quoted phrase, and the name of the game. it's up to the individual whose turn it is
whether or not he/she will accept just the game the character is from
-1 quote at a time
-You have to wait a turn until you can guess again.
-If the quote needs the rest of the conversation make it clear witch part you're focusing on.
so I'll start.
"I'm gods gift to women" -character-

OK my go, This character drove me nuts. Easy one though.
"The first mind I dove into was my father's. I could see nothing but hatred for me in his heart. My mother had died giving birth to me. I was sure he was going to kill me. When I came to, my village was engulfed in flames. I see you have suffered the same trauma."
The same thing happened to me. :D

That'd be Psycho Mantis, probably my favourite boss in a game ever. Spoiler: The best bit is when he asks you to put the controller on the floor so he can move it with his mind using the rumble.
I got it right, right? I'll go ahead and take my turn anyway. :D
My turn, easy but amusing:
"Jill, here is a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you."
It was going to turn up sooner or later.

And that's Barry from the original Resident Evil, oh what a classic.
Mine's more recent (very, actually), the guy with the bold line is the one I'm looking for:
A: Wh.. What is that sound?
B: It's a devil screaming!
C: It's an angel singing!
B: It is the pounding of creation's hammer on the anvil of time!
A: It's f*cking awesome!
D: It's called HEAVY METAL.

BulletWraith
27th November 2009, 05:11 AM
I dunno I like this thread how it is, it needs some knowledge and it's cool to see who's played the same games, I haven't been able to answer any but I'm still enjoying this thread + I think this thread will be more enduring how it is(as a game):+
only change I can think of is that instead of one quote they could post two quotes, each from a different game so it's easier for us(just need to answer one, both if you know them), but then it would be a little annoying to be left without knowing what the unanswered quote is from
erm yeh

Lance
27th November 2009, 12:20 PM
Speaking not as a moderator, I think the rule should be the original pattern started by Mr Phlanj: one quote at a time, and only the correct guesser gets to start a new round. Just like it would usually work in real life, to avoid chaos and make it possible to clearly follow what's happening. The competition inherent in doing it this way would probably keep the thread entertaining longer, IMO.
Mr Phlanj
27th November 2009, 01:36 PM
ok I'll go to get the ball rolling again and now the rules are stated.
"Retraction: Did I say that out loud? I apologize, master. While you are a meatbag, I suppose I should not call you as such"
Edit: oh and lance could you change the title to say somthing like "game quotes game" coz i should have thought about that a bit better :D

I recognised the general tone of that quote, just from seeing a video about the recent HD remake of this game. I've never played it, but the characteristic tone stands out a mile. I had to look it up to confirm and remember the name. So I totally cheated and won't say it, but I was halfway there. :P
Looked like a hilarious game. I bet Dutchmen rule at it.:pirate
Mr Phlanj
27th November 2009, 10:54 PM

To rephrase the rule, would this be what you meant?:
For the answer to be correct, it must include the name of the character speaking the quoted phrase, and the name of the game.
On confirmation that the answer is correct, then the person who answered correctly takes the next turn by providing a new quotation.

-the character must have a name, but it's up to the individual whose turn it is whether or not he/she will accept just the game the character is from
I think the above is closer to reality. So the player who provides the quote to be guessed also stipulates whether or not the guesser has to say just the name of the game, or the name of the game and character. That right? The grammar was a bit naff to be honest.:P
Mr Phlanj
28th November 2009, 04:15 PM
yes, i was just thinking of how to add somthing like that into what lance said.
