What's your best global position?

What is the best global position you have reached in Wipeout HD? The best I managed was 1st on Tech De Ra Reverse Time Trials on Venom and Rapier. However, now I've been knocked down to 2nd. What about you guys?

Those are mostly Flash and Rapier MP races though. I had a #1 speed lap and time trial for a while but no longer... :|

Is there a particular reason you ask? Or are you just looking to get an idea of how far along forum members are. I shall write some stuff on the general topic anyway, just to bore people. :P Nice way to do the poll with those bandings, btw. ;)

I remember the feeling of my first top 10. One of the best things about this game for me is being able to see the reward for your efforts as you climb the rankings. Then, once you get near the top, it's super competitive and you can have some great 'battles' without needing to blow anyone up. :g I'm sure it's as competitive all the way up and down the rankings, but it's more obvious to me near the top; mainly because of people posting videos and the the online rankings/sites that make it easy to see when the big names have improved, and which track the French are pwning this week.:lol It really adds a whole different dimension to video games for me, as I've never bothered with rankings before. I say 'video games' as if I mean anything other than WipEout, but actually, I still only care about improving my ranking in WipEout. This is another reason why Connavar's site is great, because you can see where to improve and visualise your achievement in becoming a better player. Without that site I think I would have reached a plateau completely a long time ago.

I reached 8th in Zone Amphiseum over a week ago, but nobody knows because the Zone leaderboards haven't updated for the past few weeks.

I had a few top spots early on in the multiplayer race tables, but that was a long time ago. Still hover in the top 30 on most tracks though

When the Fury pack came out I managed to get a few top 10 times and at my peak 4 number one spots. I wasn't and still aren't good enough to maintain them, but I think I'm still clinging to a couple of 3s and 4s somewhere and a few top 20s. Like Saturn said, after you get a good time it's hard to keep it. The hardest part of getting a number 1 time is staying there.

I used to have around 7 or 8 top 10 times in SL & TT [till connavar came and smashed them all ;)],but that was a LONG LONG time ago when HD first came out.

It's got really competitive now, with the insane BR specialists 1 or 2 seconds in front of a huge pack of very good racers all separated by fraction of a second.

I have about 10 top 10 times, the best being rank #3 I think on some multiplayer race. Pretty sure it's something like TJ< Flash?

But yeah, getting a top 10 time is always a good feeling. I'd love to get a #1, but I think I'm a bit off from reaching that level... for the moment, anyway :P

My best was Moa therma forward Venom speed lap 25th, but got knocked down quite a bit since then I believe. I was using Piranha and actually failed a Barrel Roll :redface:

I just checked my ranks a couple days ago. I was pretty much ranked 324 straight across the board with a few in the top 100. I sank down to in the 1000's, so thats what I voted. For the record, my top 100 scores were around the time when there were roughly 17000 users. Not having played in a while (not competetively) really kicks youre butt:g

is it me or does it appear that americans and canadians seem to own the leaderboards on the fury tracks..when i race on these they always seem to be fast on these.never played a bad american or canadian on a fury track..
for me modesto reverse was a nasty track...due to lack of knowing its bends and turns:nod

If I ever get a good time online, it's usually others that make me aware of it. I can't even really remember my own times from TT either. Even now I can't think what I got on any of them. It baffles me that some people remember them all, and I generally have a decent memory.

If someone really wants a number 1 record just play some single races against novice AI and wait for a race with x (4,6,8 whatever) turbos (depending on class) and you'll have a shot if you can "escape" the AI ships in the first lap, maintain good lines, and know how to use the turbos.

Of course, these aren't serious records like TT and SL ;) Speaking of which, I scored a #1 TT and SL a few nights back. I won't specify what track since the SL/TT vultures will start swarming. :bat :lol

Doesn't it feel like it lacks something if it's possible that you may only have achieved it because it's a less played track?

Get this, I was #1 in the world on Metropia forwards for venom, flash and rapier FOR ONLY 1 DAY last year, not long after HD came out in the UK. Now I'm about 70th or something! Gutted!
