i never did the TT challenge because i can barely sting up one good lap to post here, let alone then do 4 or however many,;)

Doing a single race challenge could be cool. as it factors in the other races and so gives the noobs like me a chance as the keen pros might get held up by the AI perhaps?
me thinks a zone challenge ;) i might actually be able to be of some sort of competition there :P

Maybe merge TT and SL together in a thread? Probably one of the reasons TT died off is that nobody could find the thread, including you at times Phantom. XD But Yeldar's converted me and I don't mind a good Time Trial. Or that's possibly because I can't Start-Barrel Roll. XD

Anyway, I don't think not being able to find it is a good reason. Search is easy to use, and the Arena section isn't that busy, so anyone who really wanted to take part could have. I was sad to see it close though, because I prefer TT, and think everyone else should too. :P But yeah, make sure there's a bit of interest this time before re-opening it.:nod

1. SL challenge is going strong, keep it as it is please :)

2. Boost BR start gives real advantage on 5-6 tracks maybe. Even if you can't do it don't worry, you still have plenty tracks to race and fight for #1 :D

3. My best time so far is 35.06 :brickwall... Where do you guys use boost? Any vids?

I like keeping SL separate, but if there was another thread I wouldn't really like single races (offline or online) included... but maybe any of the other offline modes like TT, Zone, and Detonator could be good. Definitely not Zone Battle though.

Wouldn't even have to be a "challenge", just a thread that exists to motivate people to try something different and make a personal challenge to anyone else posting scores perhaps?

I'm boosting above the magstrip and landing on the side to get an extra BR so my time could easily be broken, could potentially get 6 br's, but I'll probably have to have a shot with the Icaras...

my suggestion to Dark phantom was....

every sunday in this Speed lap thread when Dark phantom announces the new track, speed class and ship

we can submit times for

Speed lap
Time trial
Single race
Mulitplayer race

We can submit for one mode or for multiple modes or for all modes all we have to do is stick to the track..speed and ship that is decided on sunday.

I personally see no problem with this.the speed track purists who are not interested need not submit times for other modes if they cannot be bothered so they lose nothing.
it does however give other players oppurtunities to submit times for modes they never could now.
Hopefully it will draw new players in and give them something to aim for and practice their gameplay in an area of their choice..
I personally would not probally do MP mode as i dont play online to much but i would still welcome other to do so.

let try it out and see how it goes..
maybe some of you players could tell your friends and invite them to play..

its not about being better than every one else its more about being better than you have ever been..

I have little chance of ever beating players like qjon leungbok yeldar amplicated saturn DP and all those other greats but i dont care the fact i can alway beat my previous is all i need to motivat me.. im sure when ive got 600 hrs playtime i will be able to compete with the elites..

having individual threads for each mode is what killed it off.i cant be asked posting in every thread so like challenger suggested we should try just using one.
All we have to do is write our other mode times in this thread ..thats if we want to.just remember its not about winning always it the fun that counts..

remember this wont effect l challenge it just give an opurtunity for other modes too.

@amplificated Thanks for the kind words mate!! Yeah as long as I can find some time to play in the week I'll definitely continue to post my times! I'm really enjoying the sl challenge, in fact I only learned how to boost br from last week's talon's junction so I already have a lot to thank this thread for! Thanks for the offer of help too! :D

btw I know my time sucks but I can do the first br consistently, in case it helps anyone, I do it by aiming to fly into the right wall,then nose up over the bump on the left and hold left airbrake while doing the roll…

Boost start (from nearly standing still, otherwise you'll hit the tunnel), BR, good lines, then boost uphill, double BR, continue good lines. You can do a fourth BR near the end but it's hard. xD

For the boost I tend to (if I remember correctly :P) SS left on the final speed pad of the three in that section to get close to the left-hand wall. Then a little right airbrake and some nose up, then boost. Not only does boosting later make lining it up much easier, it's also faster (more often than not). The main thing that will affect your speed is how you land the first BR after the boost. Bounce = bad. If you boost later it's easier to get further up/along the hill. Should help with consistency and all :)

There is a faster way of doing it for sure, but I can't remember what the sequence is with regards SS/Boost/Line etc... so I won't go there ^_^

Where's the 8th br btw? double up on the 1st tunnel exit or down the slope after the straight? The lap I'm working on (in a harimau :3 ) only has 7 br's, and I for one can't do a boost-br at the start...

Go on the little ledge when you enter the tunnel, SS and enough air to do a br and maybe even 1-2 more

4BRs is the most one can get around that section I think, after that you are at the end of the turn heading towards the mag-strip.

Same problem I've got. And the Boost/BR at the beginning doesn't help my time at all, my ghost catches up as soon as I lose speed and head for the crest to bost into the tunnel. I'm going to have to find a better line for it to be worth it.

I'm currently boosting over the line, and then on the final straight on the lap end.
Critical corners for me seem to be the first one and the right hander just before the "Sort of Chicane"
I need to find over 0.5 of a second to even have something worth looking at!.
I must say, I don't like Talons and it is one of the harder ones to consistanly nail a perfect.

Mirage HD. I find it to be quicker round the track, you know. It seems more floaty, higher off the ground, and, as such, a little easier to move from edge to edge than the lower, I think, heavier, Fury.

I personaly don't insist in performing that BR at phantom speed, it's really difficult and when i fail (99% of the time) i completely loose my lines.

I've improved my score a little : 59/37/132645
The score is still pretty low, but I'm mostly disappointed with the 59. I exploded at something like 59.8, so you can imagine my frustration. My heart was beating like mad at the subsonic zones, so I managed to lose 70hp wall-banging :redface:

Oh right lol. I find with the 4th turn if you stay really far to the left, at the higher speeds the nose of the craft will kick up a little. When this happens if you slam on the steering + brakes you can usually make the turn without hitting the wall at all....then after all that try to avoid crashing and burnin like a fool at the entrance to the tunnel :brickwall

First turn is a nightmare for me :nod

Just realised I won't be with my PS3 again before this competition ends. Gah noo. How about next week is Speed Lap and Zone? :P
