Well WoW is boring and school is coming so I have to drop it. Buddy who also plays WoW pre-ordered the game Aion (http://na.aiononline.com/en/) (Videos of Game (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/aion-the-tower-of-eternity/2706))and said that the closed beta was fun.
Well its going to open beta (meaning free) for a week in september so now is your time to play it for free (although I'm sure they will have a trial account thing once the game is released).
Announcement (http://na.aiononline.com/en/news/aions-open-beta-pre-select-and-headstart-programs.html)
Explanation of key distribution and client download (http://na.aiononline.com/en/news/open-beta-client-now-available-for-download.html)
The above states that those with a Fileplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/) account will be most likely be given a key, so make a free account and cross your fingers.
It is Europe and North American only, although I'm sure if you live else where you can still play it if you get a key its just that you will ping high.
I realize that there aren't many MMORPG players on this forum and that September is WWC, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

lol nightarh, MMOs aren't that bad. Yes they tend to cause that in people but it is all about self control and knowing your limit. I have spent more time playing BF2 (twice as long in BF2) and CoD4 (about 100hrs more) then I have spent playing WoW (320ish hrs)so you could say that shooters are more addicting for myself.

Over the past 5 years I played Guild Wars for 3000 hours, that's roughly 2 hours a day, and I didn't play much/at all for the past year or so.. I think I can definately beat that with Aion ;D Got my (boxed) CE preordered and will try to grab as many OB keys as possible to give to random people I know...
I hope fileplanet doesn't stay the only source for OB keys... They give them to subscribers. Getting the preorder for 5 bucks is way cheaper, and in case you like the game and decide to play it you get headstart and other bonuses, if not, just cancel ;D

You can make a free fileplanet account and still obtain beta keys for certain games. I am not sure if this is true for Aion or not but I hope so.

I'm staying far far away from MMO-s, because I know full well that if they're any good, I'd spend more time playing them than I'd normally want to. Hell, I'm even afraid of buying Diablo 3 when it eventually comes out, it looks so kickass... it's scary to think of how many hours it would take away from my overall free time, should I decide to get it. :eek

Well I got an email from fileplanet. Apparently you will have to claim your beta key on september the 1st rather then them sending you one.

I have no appropriate hardware to run the game in any case. My PC is for web-surfing, programming and chatting, game machine was sold year ago :p
And I am not sure I need this. But thanks! :beer

Well reached lvl 10, and uninstalled
Game is good but its missing a lot of the polish WoW has, makes me wonder why they left out some the small features that are in WoW that make life so easy.
