As we´re spread all over earth and sharing this friendly virtual community, and summer vacation is closing in (at least for the europeans!), I find it appropriate to start a Travelling Thread.
I´m aware that you can google a lot, but sometimes, I imagine, it´s better to get info from (virtual) friends.

So - a thread about tips and suggestions, when going abroad.

I´ve got some specific questions myself - leaving for Great Brittain with my wife and 2 kids in july:
1. Any recommendable (and not too expensive) hotels in the inner-city of Amsterdam?
2. Where´s the cheapest place to cross by ferry from the continent to England (including a girly-red Toyota with a skeleton dangling in the front window) - France, Belgium or The Netherlands?
3. Suggestions for affordable ferries from England to Ireland and from Ireland to Scotland?

Remember - When ever you´re around Aarhus (DenmarK): Shout out your PSN Name loudly and I´ll serve you a beer :beer

I was in Amsterdam last month for the 420 - the hotel I stayed in was Hotel Terminus - slap bang by Damrak... It was very affordable - but can't remeber how much now, I was pretty stoned and can't remember much of my whole experience so sorry... But Hotel Terminus was chosen by our group because of the cost - very reasonable/cheapish...

Hope this helps...

I took my nearest and dearest from Ostend (Belgium) to Ramsgate (in England) on Trans Europa Ferries, which was cheap and cheerful. Actually not very cheerful, but it didn`t sink at least. I think it`s a very economic way to cross the ocean as it`s mainly for lorries but they take a few tourist civilians also.

Not sure about getting to and from Ireland, I haven`t been there for ages. I think the shortest crossings are from Scotland so they might be the cheapest. I don`t think there are well used ferry routes from England to Ireland, you will probably have to use Holyhead in North Wales where there are few different ways to get across.

Thx ACE-FLO and lunar for the responses :)
I´ll definately check out the Oostende - Ramsgate ferry.
We´ve already rented a house in Ireland and - after that - a house in The Sebenco Climbs of Scotland, so, in some way, we have to pass by ferry from England/Wales to Ireland first and then from Ireland/Nothern Ireland to Scotland, before driving through Scotland and England on our way back :?:

Whahahaaa, so many pilots coming to Amsterdam in July, just when I will be in France. If I would be home I would show you around the city that is for sure.

Anyway, we stayed two times here http://www.hans-brinker.com/ when we did the EWC in 2007 and 2008. Nice, simple and cheap hostel in the middle of the city.

Hi mates, I´m on the road to Liverpool right now (well in 10 days ... Ireland right now, then Scotland) on some kind of drunken pilgrimage :hyper
Does anybody know if is it possible to visit The Holy Grail aka Studio Liverpool?
I don´t care about churches or saints or other tourist attractions - only Anfield and SL.
So, hopefully, with your help, I´m gonna sneak away from my family and do the SL-dance :lol

Anybody knows if it´s possible???

Summertime is closing in ... again ... ahhh :P
This time - in the beginning of july - me and my family is going to Bali (Indonesia) for a month ... even more ahhhhh!
It´s been almost 20 years since I last visited Indonesia, so I´m really looking forward.
Of course, I know about the most common places to visit in Bali, but maybe some of you guys (and girls) know some specific "gems" or hotels worth visiting/experiencing?
For a start we booked a hotel in Sanur for a few days, just to relax a bit after the long journey (I really wish the battery of the childrens Nintendos would last for more than 5-6 hours!) - After that ... ???
Cheers in advance :)
