I just got my AUS$900 put in my bank account.:+

Australian economic stimulus package.

Spent some of it on 200 blank DVD & CD's ,that should bolster the economy ....well maybe not,but it will bolster my CD and DVD collection.

I'm moving to Aus....the British government just taxes the life out of us, and as for giving us money...well you've got to be joking :lol

That's why I have never even considered moving back.

Apparently there is an inheritance that I have ,but I know I would get TAXED to the MAX so I've let the nieces and nephews use the properties.

There in Buckinghampshire ,I remember rural life as a kid.... BORING,although the big house would be cool to set up a home theater in, I can't be bothered

I'll live in poverty in Sydney thanks all the same, much more fun.

I got $950, since im a student. Thanks Kevin Rudd :+

Ive had it for a while, ive havent touched it yet, i want to spend it on something good like a good grade LCD, or maybe a good interstate trip to the East coast to catch up with some Wipeout Friends. Have the 1st Australian Wipeout Convention or something. Regardless. Im very discretely happy about this, it doesnt change my quality of living, but it'll be handy in the future:D

I think it's a great economic gesture. Instead of taxing people more to gain needed funds, the Aus government has actually taken care of it's people and boosted the economy by giving people the opportunity to spend. That would NEVER happen in Britain. And yes inheritance tax is just appalling, it's like stealing from the dead. Good job all I'll inherit is debt :lol

Nice, I'm still getting fueled by my family so I don't have to worry about taxes (...yet;))

I think everyone who plays wipeout should go to monaco or some other tax haven :P

Inheritance TAX is like changing ISP's or Mobile phone providers in the UK.

I could wrangle my way around it.....but the problem would be that I would have to live on 4 different properties at the same time.

Everybody loves a change ,but the set up I would have to engage to beat the UK TAX dept would be beyond the world's best Playboy.

Anyway I'd be living next door to Jeremy Clarckson if I chose to live at one of the properties, and he's a (unt, well so I've been told by people that are currently living there.

we could just have multiple homes in multiple tax havens :D
monaco, carib, middle east, i love man. it'd be awesome.

it would also help with lag as well as with taxes.
it's a win win win win win situation :P

They are all non Taxable by the country you LIVE in.

It's like Franked Dividends from a share portfolio [Franked means TAX has been payed at a company level] therefore no further Tax needs to be paid by the dividend beneficiary.

This 'economic stimulus package' simply won't work in my opinion. There are many people who will instead put the money in a bank account (if I got it, I certainly would), completely defeating the purpose of it.

I bought into a holiday place in Monaco....what a BIG mistake that was.

Sure it's TAX free on earnings, but property levies will kill all but Billionaires.

47 pairs of shoes?! I've only got one pair that I wore out and recently replaced with one new pair. And I'm the gay guy around here. WTF is the matter with me? ;)

Okay, so I'm not immune to irrational collection; I've got 23 [so far] Swiss Army knives.

Ha, lol. Funny stuff. Spending the money on a trip is way better than spending it on a something that will depreciate in value over time, thats just my opinion, unless its something really really good. Im not sure if ill go on a trip mid year or after my mid year exams. We'll see. If i get another package or whatever they call them, a trip to Europe will be the way to go for sure:D.

That's funny, because a few years back I hardly traveled anywhere - I always felt things you can touch and play with last longer than trips. ;) That's changed, obviously, but it's interesting how differently you can perceive the world. :)

I see nothing wrong with the investing of capital on blank CD's and DVD's - they had to be bought from somewhere - so yes, therefore contributing to the economy anyway...

as for obsessive collections? We're all individuals... we all have our kinks, mine is collecting anime and kung fu movies, and nunchaku's... wanna argue about it lol :wink

and as for moving to stable economies... Saudi Arabia tops my list. I've been there twice - '93 and '06 - a can of coca-cola was priced @ 1SR in 1993 and 2006! :wink

Sod off.... you from England by any chance?

Two things that must be to be eligible for the two stimulus package payouts.

1. Being an Independent or a Dependent makes a difference. Being a student makes a difference also.

2. Having more than $500 taxable income over the finance year of 07-08. And actually having payed tax in that financial year.

Same here mate. Stupid grinning bastard put our country into debt and I haven't received my part of it.

$500 taxable income? Shouldn't that be $50,000 Kigo? And I did my tax return last year. Seems like the Tax Office's gonna get a call on the weekend.

KIGO1987
27th May 2009, 02:30 PM
Minimum threshold $500, maximum $50,000 for the $900, then above then you get lesser amount, til you hit the $100,000 income bracket. Not like people who earn $100,000 really need as much as a student earning just around 20k trying to make ends meet. $900 for a low income earner would go off paying the rent, credit card bills, or invest in a new television, but a person earning at the $100,000 would spend $900 on a bottle of vintage red or a new set of ponsy **** they buy.

I know people who got the 2 stimulus packages getting $1800 in total, i only got one, so im just simply happy about that, got it deposited onto my account back in March, havent touched it yet, might spend it on a trip at years end, after the final exams. Escape the summer heat:blarg
