ps3 controller psp

I have been reading that there is supposed to be a way to use ps3 controller on the psp, legitimately, psp 3000 that is. However, there is still a mini input. I tried an adaptor today so I could plug it in to both ends, but no avail. Is this possibly a firmware update for the psp 3000? or nixed?

As far as I know it's a feature of Resistance Retribution, where you can play the game on the PSP with a DS3.

Yep that's right.
I haven't tried it though when I had the game.

I don't even know if you need R2 or not, but if you do well it's not going to be possible as I hate that game so much :lol (Botched SP ftl)

it does require resistance2, it apparently uses the controller code from R2 and passes the interpreted data through to retribution somehow
