My favourite rave renegades are releasing their fifth album 'Invaders Must Die' in the next week or so (23rd of Feb I do believe) and are also playing at an arena in Cardiff which I got a ticket to, I cant wait! Ive heard a few tracks from the new album and they appear to have gone back to their rave roots a bit more compared to their last album. Is anyone else a fan and are you as excited as much as me? Or have you heard the new album and maybe arent liking their current musical direction?

oh i love the prodigy!
and there are still tickets available for 8th march in vienna:rock (it's just a pity that the gig will be in the gasometer with its miserable acoustics:frown:)
i hope i'll be able to motivate some friends too, everybody in my circle of friends just hates electronic music, i'm still shocked that i was able to persuade them to spend their holiday with me on ibiza last summer.:lol
also a problem is that they planned to watch eagles of deathmetal on that weekend in vienna and i ruined everything by forgetting to buy the tickets (now it's sold out) and they maybe could want to take revenge.:g

What does everyone think of the new material (to those that have heard it anyway)? Every album seems to be different and from what ive heard this is no exception. I think its still got that rave sound but with very up to date production. As with the older albums (in my opinion), I think theyve released the weaker tracks as singles and from what ive heard of the other tracks they will be a lot stronger.

Heard their new song the other day. Are they actually sampling themselves?
I come from a time when The Prodigy were huge. But they threw it all away for some reason. Not sure if it was big ego's getting in the way or what but they have never recovered their popularity...not in the charts anyway.
The first time i heard "Charly" was just brilliant. Most people on this forum will not remember that one. Unfortunately i also remember the 1970's safety advert it came from :frown:

I remember back in my youth the prodigy were massive. Ive always been a fan and have seen them live 3 times, they were amazing at the phoenix festival in 1997. I havent heard any of the new stuff as yet but will deffo give it a listen. I agree with KGB though that they have gone downhill, it seemed to coincide with keith leaving....
Actually now I think of it, the phoenix was 1996!

I haven't bothered to buy their albums after the Fat of the land, they just didn't reach my consciousness anymore, but now when i heard their new track called Omen, it had the same kind of atmosphere like back in 1994 album Music For The Jilted Generation, which is my favorite. So i was positively surprised for that, now i need to hear the rest of the new album to make my statement.

I may just have managed to buy it early from a mate at HMV :banzai .... It's really awesome, you will NOT be dissapointed. It is very different though, my breakdown goes like this.
New Prodigy = 1/2 Old Prodigy + 1/4 Bloc Party + 1/4 Pendulum
Very good overall, going to see them at Download this year. Invaders must die is a perfect soundtrack for WOHD. (that and W3O's soundtrack...)
ATM, Stand Up, Omen and Thunder are my fave tracks.

@KiGo/KGB - ill second your voodoo people remix by Pendulum... Phat and loud (u need a hefty sub to hear it all/feel) Been youtubing the 'invaders's must die' and 'omen' both as good as last album but nothing like there hey-day. (charly, skylined or No good)
Still a little raver at heart so omen is up there! recommend chase and status remix of invader's must die BASSSS-SSSY!! its on the promo Omen CDS.
As soon as the album is out im getting it, then adding it to my M.O.S and Pendulum custom sountracks =D RAve RavE!:lol

The Pendulum remix of Voodoo People is amazing, one for big phat bassy speakers!
They have taken a step back since Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned, which I think was a good thing as I wasnt particularly a fan of that album. Fat of the Land and Jilted Generation are by far the best albums they produced and it sounds like they are heading back in that direction with Invaders Must Die. Only a week to go!

Where can i get hold of that one KIGO, haven't heard much about Pendulum, though i have seen one of them plays an awful synth/guitar thing (not cool IMHO) :P
Pendulum have released a couple of albums, a few years back they released 'Hold Your Colour' which has heaps of killer songs on there. Which can be actually found in the both Motorstorm games. More recently they have released another album called 'In Silico', which has some more of there more recent tunes like 'Propane Nightmare' and 'Granite'.
Now where to find the actual full length version on voodoo people (pendulum remix) by The Prodigy, im still not sure actually because im still yet to find it myself. But what i have is on Ministry of Sound: Maximum Bass 3, there is a short unsatisfactory length version of voodoo people, which on goes for 2:34 seconds, but its teamed with 'Slam' by pendulum straight after in the transistion period. But the proper length one is about 8minutes long which is sooo much better.
Also these guys are Perth boys too:P They live somewhere in the UK now i think. Since you cant really do much in this small city.
Who actually has the full length version of Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix) out there???? Please post if you do.
.... im in the mood to listen to some of there music now:g:g:g:g

been a fan since back in the day...Fat of the Land being one of my most favourite albums of all time...
Invader Must Die (is that the new title???) is a must have...heard Omen on the radio the other day...no prior announcement was made as to who it was...was head banging away in my car on the way to work...was thinking to myself...this sounds a lot like something Liam Howlett would right...had all the composition 'ingredients' he would use in a song...and sure enough...it was the new Prodigy...
they're back in form...

yes please prodigy. i might fire up 2097 for the intrumental of firestarter :)

hmmm, a mix of old and new I say... mostly old though.
It really shows in some songs that they've gone back to basics though, for instance, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzacVWSyd7I) song "take me to the hospital" has all the dissonant chords and strange rave of the old Prodigy

I made a mistake there. I thought the length was longer but it isn't. 4:50 is its full length, still too short for a song like that. Good songs, i mean really great songs need to last for about 8minutes, i cant stand these 3minute radio edit ****. I must have the club mix. Here is some good full length songs:
Top tunes as well:
Sasha - Xpander (Full Length) just over 10minutes.
BT - Remember (Sasha Mix) 12:13
Sasha - Wavy Gravy (Burufunk Mix) 8:07 [this **** is tops rank for bass]
Steve Angello - Voices (Eric Prydz Remix) (Club Mix) 7:28
Paolo Mojo - 1983 (Eric Prydz Remix) (Club Mix) 9:59

Lifelong fan of them and I have every single album.
I started off in Madchester and used to go to the Hacienda every Friday night in 1989 and then I got into the Prodigy. Nobody has ever come close to them since.
I've liked the way they continuously change their style but on the new album I only like The Invaders Must Die and Warriors dance..............but those are utterly mind blowing tracks.

Don't you like "Thunder"? "The Big Gun Down" from the lost beats? I think that this album is awesome! Thank GOD it's not like AONO :) it had only a few good songs (IMO) Spitfire (my dear wife ahaha), Memphis Bells, Wake Up Call and Girls. The proof is that they didn't even played the others live.

My particular favorite albums were Jilted Generation, Fat of the Land and Experience. (In that order.)

I think it's a psychological thing because when you compare the other tracks on the album with the utterly mind blowingly awesome tracks of Invaders must die and Warriors Dance - the rest is a bit of a let down. I mean, how can you get all of the tracks to live up to each other? I don't think any albums done that. I think that if Warriors Dance and Invaders weren't on the album I'd like the rest more - It's a bit like being spoilt really.

It was a good bye afterall, I suppose ;) That kid wasn't that big of a hacker then, hm? :D
Anyway, yeah, Prodigy - what amazes me most is how they are even more awesome live. It's one of the few bands where I can totally lose myself in the moshpit, dripping with sweat after the first song, rippping it up again with the second song, thinking I'll take a short break when the third song plays, but then they kick on firestarter and I lose it again :hyper

:lol To be fair Dizzy Rascal didnt sound too bad on a big sound rig, I dont like his music generally but when its that loud its bearable. The Prodigy on the other hand were absolutely amazing! They only played a few tracks off their new album, so we ended up with a lot of the classics which was awesome. They even played Diesel Power (minus rapping) as their last tune which id never heard them play live before, and I love that track! The sound system was also mentally loud, we were about the middle of the arena and you could still feel the bass vibrating strongly through your chest with every finely-tuned kickdrum.
It probably going to be another few years before they are back this way, and I cant wait....

I like them a lot too. Got all of their 5 albums (excluding the "Their Law" one, which is more a compilation). I started to be a fan with the "Jilted Generation" one, so it's almost 15 years now. A few years ago I also got myself the "Experience" album.
I guess, if anyone would count to what music I listened the most, The Prodigy would be #1 for sure.
Then I also like the Chemical Brothers.

I have all the albums and about half the singles. So yeah I'm a huge fan. It was actually due to my mum loving Firestarter when it came out, and me always listening to it as a wee child. (Along with Spaceman-Babylon Zoo).
Although my favourite album has to be Fat of the Land oh and my favourite EP be Baby's Got A Temper (I dunno why peeps hate that song...)

I love the hair X-Triko, and im in awe of your Prodigy collection!
Music for the Jilted Generation is good, but Fat of the Land is far better IMO. Breathe, Diesel Power, Funky S**t, Narayan & Mindfields are all awesome tracks!

Keith Flint still is rocking the Prodigy.

I can't say wich one is the better album. I can say that my favorite is Music For The Jilted Generation. I can also say that the one I less like is AONO...

3 favorite Prodigy Songs of all time? Man, that's a really tough question. Can't narrow it down to 3, so I'll state 7, because I like them all equally, so in no particular order:
Full Throttle
3 Kilos
Claustrophobic Sting
Diesel Power
Firestarter
Colors
Take Me To The Hospital
Lini-R
12th August 2009, 05:28 PM
Claustrophobic Sting
Colors
Those two rank highly aswell. It's a shame hardly anyone has heard of Claustrophobic Sting because it's a real neat track.
By the way, forgot to say earlier but xtriko that hair rocks. Like seriously rocks.

3 favourite tracks? Theres so many to choose from but if I had to:
Mindfields (Fat of the Land)
Poison (Jilted Generation)
Funky S**t (Fat of the Land)
Claustrphobic Sting is an awesome track :rock, in fact all three of the last tracks of The Narcotic Suite are brilliant. Just not in my top 3......

Hey, partypeople,
Yesterday the Prodigy was in town and I of course was there.
They absolutely rocked :rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock
I was in the second or third row for a while. It was awesome to be just 3 meters away from the guys.

I was there as well! Not the best set they ever played (was my 5th Prodigy gig) but solid enough and the crowd up front was totally crazy! :rock

Yes, the crowd was crazy. It was like standing at a seashore and 2 meter high waves coming from left and right and all other directions. Only that the waves were out of people.
I took my wife with me and we had to retreat. What a shame, but nevertheless a great experience. :hyper
By the way, el, this was your 5th gig? Wow, for me it was my first. I never managed to be at any other of their concerts before.

yeh, saw them for the first time back in 97 on the Fat of the Land tour, then 5 or 6 years ago at the Novarock festival (which was their best gig EVER), then I think 4 years ago at the Frequency festival (where they were awful, sadly), then this year's Frequency (awesome again), and now last thursday. As I said, same set as 3 months ago at the Frequency, so I wasn't super impressed, and I don't like the Stadthalle venue because they don't have wavebreakers and you get absolutely killed up front.

Holy **** great photo! I wish I could attend a big European festival to see the Prodigy. I see them every time they come to Toronto (05 and 08 ) but it's not the same in a smaller venue. It's hard to say but they're probably my fave band, heard them first time on the Wipeout 2097/XL soundtrack back in '96 and i'm sure this is how many here got introduced to them.

I'm a long-time fan. I was a bit young for the rave scene - when Experience came out, I was still just five years old! Still, I got it some years later (I was about 10), and that was the first album I ever owned (on tape, at that!). I've been following the band since. Not yet managed to see them live, but hope to soon enough.
I can't decide on which is my favourite album, it's hard to decide between Jilted Generation, Fat of the Land and Invaders. I'm quite a metal fan, so I really enjoy guitar-driven tracks such as Breathe and Firestarter. On the other hand, I'm quite partial to the very different kind of musical aggression on Omen and Piranha. Decisions...

I remember reading an article about Prodigy wayyyyy back in the day ( I think it was in Raygun ). The band was defined as "Confrontational" and they [the band] were not particularly impressed with the way Music for the Jilted Generation turned out overall. Imho, its one of their best. My favorite, however, has to be the single they released with Hellfire and Jercho on it.
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiire...I am the god of hellfire and I bring you...
Awesome stuff.
