Looking forward to The Mars Attacks.
Always a pleasure competing in The Avalon, although the guy who´s beating me, has been playing almost non-stop for 50 hours :dizzy.
I simply don´t understand how it´s possible.
Definately see you (both) in march.
kanar
13th February 2009, 08:11 PM
lol mate, always a pleasure to share one week-end in the month with you, and with the world of wipeout. Well, 50 hours is the less I can do when you guys are having a blast all days lol. And you were a lot of time in front of me last month (not because I was tired lol). Seriously, just before I read your post I was wondering about a possible non-stop hosting stuff for saturday night, I mean a sleepless night for me, just to finally break the timezone barrier (poor leungbok lol, I won't force you to do that too!).

Reminder to self not to do again:
Don't take a nap and then wake up and jump straight into an Avalon meet.:dizzy
Boy,what a shock to the system that is,it was like being hit by a truck, well 2 trucks,a red one and a white one, both with Auricom written down the side.
[Elhabib and Greenix].
What was with Kigo's clone?
I noticed one flag on one Kigo1987 using Icarus was Australian, and the other Kigo1987 using Ag was a New Zealand flag.:eek
I've never ever seen that happen before, quite bizarre.
Back for more later, need a proper sleep and a thumb massage.:nod

blackwiggle, I saw & RECORDED that, lol, we got 2 kigos, 2 australians for me, & the second one finished the races lol. REally weird. Welcome to the land of dreams lol. Awesome races so far, I felt the beer effect on the reverse tracks a lot. I'm preparing myself for the pulse session right now. What an afternoon. I've recorded all the 64 races -1 I missed. WTF. I'll upload the best ones.
pulse event : 19h00 gmt

"The infamous stressed guy....." lol. That could be a lot of people :)
@Avenger - don`t give up. It is bloody hard sometimes, but the opposition are always tough these days. Stick with it and you will suddenly get the groove and win some races, I am sure.
I`m going to join Avalon March Attack at some stage, but don`t have access to the TV atm. I am democratically outvoted 6-1 by people who want to watch Comic Relief. Of course I could assert my undemocratic rights as the goddamn sucker who went to work 24/7 to pay for that effing TV in the first place, but that would not be a good example of mature and adult negotiation skills to set for the children :naughty ;)
Anyway when I do finally make it I will not be flying Goteki. I have not given up on my team, but due to my diminishing performance I have been put out on loan to other lesser teams until I improve. It was embarassing for them to see me win every start and then fall off the track at the first opportunity. My loan period will include a spell at the Magec Academy to re-learn basic piloting competence before I return to the Mothership. I also hope to reach 100K on all ships during the training period and this weekend I will probably be bringing up the rear in Qirex. Watch out.
anyway enough verbals from me, I will go and make my donation to Comic Relief, hope to be on the track later!! :)

13h00 GMT? I'll be there! :hyper
I have to say, these Avalon events are the greatest thing ever. Not only do I have the chance to race against a full room of ace pilots, it also pushes me to the very limit, exploring and learning new things almost every race.
Also, I've come to realize that something's wrong with the balance AG-SYS vs other ships. They really seem to be bullying everything out of the way, even heavy ships like me. I've lost count of how many times I've had an AG-SYS nosedive under my rear (nasty, I know ;)) and push me out of a corner. Considering that AG-SYS is supposedly a light ship - judging from it's handling and accel - this is probably some sort of bug. Ah well...
Another thing I found really funny yesterday was the occasional stroller running into an Avalon race, naturally quitting mid-race or immediately after - I could litterally hear what they were saying to themselves after the race started: 'OMG, what kind of crazy room is this?! Am I the only one NOT cheating in here?!' :D
Looking forward to this afternoon/evening!
Darkdrium777
14th March 2009, 11:48 AM
Normal racing physics are not applied online eLhabib. One of the reasons the online is not as good as it could be. :( Collisions with ships are therefore much more costly and act out differently.
eLhabib
14th March 2009, 11:51 AM
I know, but it's always AG-SYS, at least it seems to me that way...
lunar
14th March 2009, 11:54 AM
Yes the ramming sucks. Flying along nicely, getting shoved into a wall to a stop, losing half your shield and there`s nothing you can do about it = :turd
It`s the same for everyone of course, but it can ruin games and if you fly an Auricom you`re going to be in the pack at the start and get rammed. It`s not such a problem in weapons races, so a solution might be for SL to patch switching off collisions for no weapons races. It`s been said before, but Pure could do it!
blackwiggle
14th March 2009, 12:13 PM
Had to laugh about the strollers into the rooms last night you mention Elhabib :lol
There was one Fiesar pilot that I thought might of died of a heart attack,he stay in the room but never seemed to race ,all DNF [name escapes me],he finally ended up leaving after a few races then Kigo arrived.
You were saying you were getting shoved by AG craft, well as a AG- Systems pilot I can say with some authority that having a bloody huge red Auricom come slamming into you doesn't do much for ones racing line.:frown:
Mad-Ice
14th March 2009, 12:20 PM
As an Ag-systems pilot myself, I get pushed over so many times too. Sometimes I start first and get pushed immediately and end up being last after the first two corners. Then of course I am having a hard time catching up again. But that's the sport too. Anyway, I think we are all having problems online with lag, which is pushing our ships in the wrong direction, it is something nasty which should not be there.
Avalon rocks.
eLhabib
14th March 2009, 12:25 PM
Yeah, you're probably right - it's the same for everyone. I just developed a special caution for AG-SYS, try to go around it really wide ;)

14th March 2009, 12:33 PM
There were some really strange occurrences earlier today while racing with Danteichs-clone.
We started a tournament with five racers on the board but ended up with 8.
3 of the racers were ghosts, with one of them [Emily-watson I think] had 2 craft in the race,1 racing and 1 sitting on the grid, both at the same time, this happened in every race of a 9 race tournament.

I had some awesome races last night once I finally found avalon. Many before hand as well due to the great crowd of pilots gathered online for this event. I even won an avalon race on sol2 against pirahpac and Wotan. A proud moment for me indeed. It may even have been the last race of the night.
With respect to the lag. Avalon is good because it gives you plenty of opportunity to have another go if you get destroyed in a race. I have noticed something about AG-Systems too though. It's something very specific. Extremely frequently AG-Systems ships get stuck to me in a certain way. I'll be going along and all of a sudden the nose is wedged in my side and if I'm anywhere near critical then I'm gone. Doesn't really happen with other ships. Anyway, the lag issue pops up in so many threads. Maybe we should create a special thread to moan about it. A bit of a negative thread it would be in some ways, but positive in as much as it would keep all other discussions on topic and without the lag discussions. It would also give me somewhere to winge, as I'm one of the worst culprits :lol

Well apologies for the lag. But I'm still pleased with it. I'm not gonna claim that I'm faster than you or Wotan. Even though lag was what got me ahead, I'm still proud to stay ahead of such fast pilots for once.

LOL sometimes I think the same thing XD a few days ago, I was hoping to find someone playing phantom online, but only found rapier... well, I joined. I was giving more than 20 secs per race on a tournament. But those pilots that I raced I must respect. None of them Left the tournament. AND! none of them sent a messagen calling me cheater :)

I know that wipeout is very much about killing while racing, but i like a lot these avalon events where the lines and the BR's are all we can do.
anyone for some william lawson's? XD
AG-wolf
14th March 2009, 06:58 PM
I can appreciate the fine racing lines and BRs and stuff, but without any shield recharge, I quickly get relegated to the back of the line because I get cluster-f**ked in the first lap and down to 40% shield, then I'm stuck trying to just stay alive. When I'm frustrated, then, it's hard to keep clean racing lines and I end up scraping walls, accidentally triggering a BR where I can't complete it, then I'm dead. Just very frustrating. I'm not so concerned with destroying people online, but I like having the opportunity to recharge my shield or occasionally nail someone with a rocket to try and pick up lost distance.

I am really enjoying here at Avalon camp base south of France : absolutely beautiful weather 'into' the flat ! sun is shining through the wall (thx to big beamer) sky is blue like color of the red bull can, there's also a 'fresh' wind coming out from the projector ( lovely fans)!
This is an intense freakin weekend with Leungbok and Kanar, he currently is respecting the scheduled hours by hosting Avalon HD and Leung and me are hosting Pulse Avalon with Archman and MadIce !
I for one to comlpletely forgot everything related to hours and time ... this is like a time warp moment for me ! entering Avalon Dimension at your own risk

awesome races tonight, at least from my perspective 'cause I was No.1 all the way! (almost)
I was too high to race platimum rush and/or kanar chose a bad parking place for his ship which blocked my own when I was in 1st. I became attached to his ship for at least 10 secs... very funny though :cowboy

Indeed Archman, even Jaytech can not help INFAXSU. He was the only one in the room using it and he did loose too, sometimes. I just can't understand why he wants to win like this? Like there is any honour in it, not!
But with you Archman, I had so many close races amazing. Most of them you won, I think but at least three races with only 0.06 sec. I could not believe my eyes, again. The bastard! :lol
Kanar: what did you do? You did not race for many races! Did you pass out? Thanks for hosting. Also thanks to Asayyeah, Leungbok, Kappeskopp.

Right! But nvm him anymore, he hates this community either way. Oooh, just one thing. I'd like to see him without JayCheat, how he maintains his racing line with his thumb holding <up> majority of the time. It could suck, actually. lol
But with you Archman, I had so many close races amazing. Most of them you won, I think but at least three races with only 0.06 sec. I could not believe my eyes, again. The bastard! :lol
Hehe ;) Yeah, definitely close races. Guess I'm settled with EG.X for some time now, heh ;) (though I really need to do more o7s, hairpins are a little pain to handle with EG.X, you have to approach it in a perfect line, or you get crashed on the cussion...). I hope to race with you more usually!!
Kanar: what did you do? You did not race for many races! Did you pass out?...
HAhaha, kanar discovered to us some zimmer rooms on every track :D:D.

INFAXSU, I've never raced you online, nor do I know you, but just from reading your posts here it's pretty obvious to me that you very well know to yourself that you don't really compete with some of the other posters in here - otherwise you wouldn't be the ONLY one here that goes boasting how he was No.1 in all races. I know some people who take the top spots in HD nearly everytime I race them, and I never see them proclaiming it here. You know why? Because they don't need to.
Think about it.

WoOW. What a week-end. What a disconnection from the real world we had. First things first... sorry. Because I always consider this place as a fantactic family, I feel sorry about you Kigo, emwu, Wellington, Lunar, epsilon, stinkleroy... I mean all my friends who couldn't enjoy at all or enough with us this great wipeout week-end. As the last time I signed VIPs it was really hard to focus on the fixed avalon -LOL- protocole, & host like insane guys (which is, by the way the case; we're really mad). Damn Synchro Logistics, why are you not a real thing? It was even harder than last time lol. We were completely out of order quickly, somethin' like saturday night, & really awful sunday. LOL. The ps3s reached high temperatures here in the bunker, that's why we couldn't deploy 2 hosts all the time... After a blast like that, you really hope everyone has enjoyed the show, & you're really mad because you have no time to answer to your friends all over the world. I really hope I've saved the no weapons records from the organization disaster lol. Please pm me if you noticed some errors. I haven't quoted the names of all the pilots we raced this week-end. I'm mad too because of that lol. I won't quote precisely 300 psn names like a fool this time lol. In fact I have no idea how many people joined us during this crazy week-end. I've the feeling we saw all the zoners & wipeoutArena lol.
So I definitely want to thank everyone who joined us this week-end. I really hope you could feel at least just a little what the blast we had with the videos I'm uploading. Definitely baaad quality, compared to what our eyes saw (I'm talking about the intense fights we saw). Ok. As usual, I have to go back to reality. Faster than phantom class. Leungbok, Asa, I love you guys.
Whooops. There was a competition part too. But this time I haven't my precious pics of the xxxxxx number of races we launched this week-end. So I really don't want to forget a name. You were too many fast aces to underline one performance compared to another. I can only risk myself to give you one name. Our mvp is Wotan. But really, when you start to quote Wotan, you're obliged to quote pirhapac, and Greenix, & Elhabib, & SaturnReturn, and SO ON. Guys you are all f*****n aces. I must stop right now. I have to SLEEP.
Infaxsu I could -personally- understood your 2nd-3rd degrees posts, 'til you posted more & more weird posts, & left the federation & my friend list, without any reasons (hope I haven't quite understood your last pm, but anyway). As you said, I personally thinks it's skills first. And as I said, saturday was a no limit stuff. I saw for the first time the same race on 3 psps in my place tonight, that was DEFINITELY not the same game on the 3 hardwares. It's not fair from the start.

hey yeldar & Haydn,
Really sorry. We had not enough contact this week-end. You missed us a lot. Communications between the bunker & the online world were really difficult. As I said, we couldn't deploy the second host enough, because of the temperature & our physical limits. Really, I regret that. We made some speed lap sessions too (avalon is a research lab too lol). The hosts were Kanar_is_back & Leungbok (Asa was haydn lol). Only Leungbok & Asa participated to the France/dutchman event. And the avalon competition was shorted a lot sunday -I hosted maybe 1 or 2 hours, not much, cos' I had to prepare the food rations for my friends & prepare them to go back to the real world. Because there still a real world outside wipeout lol. I've uploaded more videos, but had no time to post the links in my first post. I'll continue to upload more of 'em during the week.

That made me blush lol, and I think you already are a greenix :)
Now I've had a days rest after Avalon weekend I've had time to gather all my thoughts and have a good smile from the weekend's memories.
I want to thank Kanar for all the hard work he has done. It's this kind of event, a consistant, thought-out and dedicated event, which truely makes the magical spirit that WipEout has.
If I go online and get bombarded with 'CHEATER' messages, or if I get microphone abuse, I don't really care because I can always rely on the members of this community to provide a mature, fun and overall fantastic WipEout experience every time i go online.
It's these members who organise the events, who put time and effort into these - trying to squash their social lifes in at the same time - that are part of and make up that spirit. So all I can say is thanyou. :rock
Avalon this weekend, was for me, one of the best meetings I have had in a long time. My main meeting was on Saturday night in Leungbok's room. Myself, Wotan, Pirhapac, Kanar, Leungbok and 1 or two pilots that seemed to leave and rejoin (who I can't remember the name of - sorry!) were battling it out all through the night until 4am ish (5am for the frenchies). What a night.
Leungbok, thanks for hosting that room and many others before and after.
Kanar you certainly had your shining moments!
Pirhapac... However much we don't get on, I must congratulate you for the level of racing you brought to the room. I can only hope that maybe now you have a little more respect for my non-weapons racing ability.
Finally Wotan. Dear dear dear.... speedy swine. At first you and Pirhapac were walking all over me until I settled with AG-S. From then on there really were some close races throughout the whole night. I think by the end of the session we must have equalled out if we had been given points. I'll admit Saturn that there were several times where I felt like Welly. In that night I managed to set two new Avalon records and 2 new multiplayer records. But I think my play only increased as the other competition was so high. I haven't raced like that since unfortunately :( . I'll be ready next time Wotan to challenge you once again...
Phew, I think that's a bit of my tincy bragging and praise and congratulations done.
And to everyonelse who I must have raced such as KGB, SaturnReturn, Yeldar, LoudandProud, Luxoflux, ANGRY :bomb habib, Chaos, Amorbis, OLOuk, Z1r0rEi, Danterich, EPSILON, Hellfire, JJPAP, Mad-Ice and countless others - you all rock! :rock

Thanks to you too, Greenix, for some intense competition. Yes, I was there racing with you guys from about 2:30am-4:00am (your time) on Sat night and wow, what an experience. I don't think I finished any better than 3rd though, and that was only once. I was generally finishing in the 4-5-6 slots, but against the likes of you and the rest of the elite pilots, I consider that a success...especially considering I'm still a relative newbie (or NOOOOOOB as Chiryu007 likes to say lol) on phantom speed. There's no doubt that racing against you guys has accelerated my progress as a pilot, so I can't thank you all enough. Really looking forward to racing against you and the crew again soon!
