A big question for those like me who can't really smoke in their room but need to go outside, is there a pause between the tours? ( i can race round 1 & 2 on a row if it's not too long to start but linked round 3 without 'inhalating' some 'substance' ( tar, nicotine and whatever else :banzai) that is far beyond my ability :o )

on a side note : rosbeef killer with american flag was actually Wowo..., i bet it was a french guy ( remember kgb?) , i also remember i sent him a message saying in french: 'pfff franchement tu aurais pu trouver mieux comme nickname ' (no need to translate)

So that leads me to something i don't really want to have a big discussion here , but i don't like at all those who are racing under 'several' nicknames without saying it ( not because they have lost their account but simply because they love creating and using their multiple psn accounts , euro, us, jap ), it's not only because they ****ed a little bit the ranking by showing their clones everywhere but more the fact when you try to engage the discussion with someone who already know you and don't tell who he is really... What is the point of that???

Well thanks a lot for the tournament guys, but I've got to say I'm completely embarrassed by that final performance and it really made me question my own ability. I've recorded all the races, please watch them and tell me: am I really that bad a player or do I just have a really hard share of bad luck? What am I doing wrong?

The first thing I'm going to do though is change craft, as the low thrust on the Qirex is a serious disadvantage.

As i sent to everyone ( hope i didn't missed anyone) through ps3 messages : i really enjoyed those frenetic races where everything may happen : You know Charlie if you miss a line or a weapon pad ( worst) that could immediately turn into a nightmare, the problem as you noticed with qirex is even you loose the last race and start in the front , with the slow thrust of it you ll have always someone who will get that 1st weapon pad ahead of you.
I also noticed ( what happend to me on that finale round ) 2 races on a row i did really lowered my attention and didn't think positive ( like : it's an hard track , i don't like it, damn i am sure something will happen ... and boom something has happened lol ) at that moment i completely lost contact with the leaders eventhough i did finished pretty well on the 2 next one but it was too late :)

I did scored : 54 / 51 and 50 for the 3 rounds which is pretty regular lol

Can't wait for next week and next Astral ( i ll be able only to race 3 Astral so you can count on me guys :)

I have to say I'm very pleased with that result for my first time in the final. It's made my day. I don't think people will know close it was to a Double Dutch 1st place.

I was in the lead going in to chenghou. On the first lap of I pulled off a barrel roll on the first corner for the first time in a race. I just about managed to deal with the unexpected extra speed and get round the tight left corner. But it hadn't done me any good as my bit of wall grindage left an angry crowd of fast pilots on top of me and I was lagged off. I thought that was the end of my chance for victory but kept going. A lap later I noticed the French were behind me and thought maybe I could really win this, not remembering exactly how many points I had going into the race, but there was always a chance. Going into the last lap I was 3rd behind yeldar and Hellfire. I picked up a missile. I had Hellfire in my sights and hell's fire in my soul (oooh, get me, all dramatic). I locked on and hit launch. But NO! Just as I hit the button the missile unlocked itself. So I remained third. But if I got lucky with a quake at the end of the lap I could still do it. At the jump for the last time and Asayyeah was closing in from behind. In the last chicane I hear the dreaded "rockets", which would surely destroy me from close range. But just as I hear this I hit the weapons pad and instinctively hit square, without any clue what it would be. Lucky for me it was a shield and not a speed boost which in mid-corner would no doubt have boosted me into oblivion. The shield saved me from being wiped out and I thought would get me third place in the race and a finish one point behind yeldar in the whole tournament. But then, just as I thought I was home and dry, Asayyeah beat me across the line by 0.01 seconds. Somehow he came from nowhere. Cheeky frenchman must have picked up a speed boost from the same pads that saved my bacon with the shield. The same speed boost that would have destroyed me had I picked it up. I guess my 2nd place must have been fated. But if it weren't for that split second overtake and the split second missile failure then that joint first would have been mine with yeldar. Someday I'll overcome fate and achieve my ASTRAL destiny with an overall victory. It's coming people, some day!

Now that all the crazy shenanigans are out of my system. Thanks everyone :D That was a very intense and exciting tournament. I shall remember this one for some time and look forward to seeing all the videos. :rock

It was only my first ASTRAL so i'm glad i didn't get too badly beaten up by the big boys of wipeout:P
I'm not entirely convinced that i deserved to win it but **** me it was a close run thing; everything riding on the last race.

Basically it was AWESOME so big thanks you EPSILON and his intrepid crew (if he has one) for organising it.

First I was very upset due to my bug ! impossible te reply message, impossible to read, impossible to add new account (like wotan ou kingheim), I try before ASTRAL to fixed it but I can't, Freeze, Freeze and Freeze. :blarg
I understand the reason, I had too many contacts in my Friendlist (96 exactly) and impossible to do anything without freeze. This was extremely frustrating.

Secondly, I made the decision not to qualify in the final because I coudn't host it because I couldn't add wotan and Kingheim and impossible to organize a good thing with a such condition. Unfortunately, I made sure to arrive on the last lot of races (except a few, I could not resist).

I apologize, I played festivals disorders :frown:

In any case, it was a hard battle, I apologize to Hellfire because I have not stopped by the slow pull. towards the end I let go JJPAP and others to enable them to go to final (even if it did not need me to go :lol)

I'm terribly sorry for sh**ting organization tonight due to my bug.

Big thanks to Epsilon & Nyctalopian & all the pilots I briefly raced tonight. I totally assume that I hadn't the level to compete with you guys. That's the main reason why I quitted. I personaly found unbearable the racing conditions (vista weapon pads, half BR/half no BR races, Monster Truck handling Icaras???...). So when you add the lack of skills to the online biohazard...
Anyway, my apologies.

Sorry guys, seems I'm destined not to finish this one no matter what. I really appreciate that you all stopped after the first time, can't really say thanks enough. Then it goes and disconnects and freezes up for a second time. Useless PS-V (Playstation Vista - you'll like that one Kigo).

This is the 2nd Astral this s**t has happened to me in out of 3 so I think I'm going to pull out now before I really do some damage to my PS3 and TV. Thanks to everyone involved, and to those I attempted to race with.

Seems I can say, 'I told you so' yeldar... My luck stinks atm, think I'm going to get off here before I change into rant mode.

I really felt like disconnecting too, Greenix. The WipEout circuits have become harsh and unforgiving recently and bring you to the very edge. I hope you didn't break any expensive equipment :o, (my Dual Shock 3's R2 is broken because of this sort of thing).

I'm not sure what my overall score is. For some reason I have 61 written down but I'm sure that it's wrong. If I add my first tournament and second tournament scores together I should have 49 points. I'm sure someone has the proper results. Which you do ;), thanks Koari.

Overall I thought it was OK. I had some great battles with Leungbok in the qualifying tournaments, but the anger and frustration of bombs, mines and rockets really got to me. The last tournament was a bit mixed for me with some awful results and some podium positions. Maybe I'll have better luck next time :).

After the second PSV freeze I remember throwing my remote at the TV. The pixels flared up for a second but nothing permanent. Just a remote that now rattles. Still, I'm contaning my rage for the time being. If anyone hears a loud 'F**K!' echoing through the country its just me ;)...

Thx to Epsilon, Nyctalopian and Kaori for this Astral. And to all of you I raced yesterday, including watching Greenix´ ship blow up 8 times at the starting line in the final :frown:.
The preliminary round were ok, but the final rather chaotic! Lots of strange things happening - things out of our hands.
Epsilon: Maybe next time you should create an Astral chat-room - way easier to communicate, compared to sending messages back and forth.
And by the way: I´m in for the next Astral, of course :P.

For the next Astral I include a ASTRAL Chatroom, more easy to communicate (good idea JJPAP but yesterday it was hard for me because I Answer a lot of private message ^^)

The first round for me was critical, Mines, Bomb as usually ^^
It was a great battle with JJPAP !

It was the first time I see a ASTRAL ex aequo lol
We lost few minute (i'm terrubly sorry) to organize this races between Me and JJPAP. I hope you not hungry to wait betwenn the 2 round and Final ;)

The Little Final was very fun, it was a great pleasure to races with G-Superpilot (first time I think). He win the Little Final. 2nd position of the Little final was Nyctalopian, 3rd EPSILON and Spoon was the 4th.

A complete Astral Was so Fun so yesterday we had 2 No complete Pool. In Little final we are only 4 ! but great ;)

My 1st Astral i finished 5th in the finale round, now it's 2nd, a nano single point behind my great partner Yéyé, funnily enough this was his true prediction before we start Astral : Famous Mage Yeldar he knows the future and master the present ( and forget his past lol ).
My next possible Astral will be in my next vacation (August) so i think i have time to practice to get that finale step i am missing :D

But there was some things more important than my Wipeout Passion
I Finish to Build my house, it was hard to make this long long break without you and the extrem sensation on tracks !

Wipeout was a cool drug for me during few month with you.

Yesterday I started a new on line simple race and i was struck by this andrenaline game again, what fun !!

I think I have the pleasure to meet you again and why not to organize (in moderate mode) new Astral tournament, but before i steel need training ;)
