nice extra br on amphiseum leungbok and yelda is that your fastest route, i thought it was faster to boost br after magstrip and land on 2 speedlaps on straight bit before final bend, not sure on phantom though but on rapier seems faster for me.

It's actually faster to BR at the end of the mag then BR again on the left-hander after that but your lines have to be perfect to actually gain much time. It requires WAY too much extra concentration and I'd probably end up respawning on the 5th lap or something (you know how it goes ;) ). It's actually one situation where there is a BR available and I won't take it :eek

For what i know, King made his sl time with 3 BRs, and his TT with one per lap (same boost/BR than Yeldar), i suppose it's because 3 BRs per lap are difficult to do consistently (and also some risks of respawn trying to perform them).

I tried using boost elsewhere like on the overpass or taking other shortcut.
My best lap with non-original method is somewhere around 20.60 - 20.70 with huge margin.

These works fine on venom and flash speed.

@ProblemSolver - is boost BR on TJ rev worth a try? I think it is but you must ask someone who's on 1st place there :)

@yeldar - I wouldn't be surprised if that went well. Extra barrel roll + still a shortcut = WIN!? Up to a point I'd say they'd be equal. But I think, a perfect TT with that method, against a perfect TT with the shortcut, would probably still lose. I look forward to being proved wrong though. (But only if you use Icaras :P)

You know full well I gave up on that one a long time ago - the moment Elois improved further and crushed my spirit. Then I foolishly moved onto forward...shame on me.

EDIT: Thanks to this I went back to watch my old chenghou rev video and found audio had been disabled. I should hopefully have got it back now though. If anyone finds any other of my videos that have audio disabled then let me know and I will attempt to get it back for those too.

EDIT 2: @yeldar again. I thought your video had no sound to start with, because I didn't see the message that usually displays or a cross over the audio. This is what I usually see on mine. It's what I saw this time on mine as well. Right now it doesn't appear any more on mine. Hopefully that means sound is in the process of being restored, for both of us.

@Yeldar, i already succeeded a boost/BR after the long right (landing on the top of the mag-bump), so maybe something to try with your new method :)

@Pbs and Phaeton, the boost/BR at the start on TJ R is usefull on venom and flash (possibly rapier). At phantom speed, i must boost pretty far from the finish line to land (while BR-ing) on the turn without hitting walls. Not sure it's faster than a classic boost with a tight turn using sideshift. Hey, if you take the #1 with it i'll give it a try :)

if anyone hasnt tried it i suggest dscaler, i can capture at 720x576 using that program with no frame drops, set recording to half hieght alternate field, in recording settings, you then get a panoramic video but when u then convert to flv or whatever you just change aspect ratio to 4:3 and voila 640x480 in perfect ratio, means your pc doesnt have to be superfast to encode highres,

But it also shows clearly that barrel rolls benefit 'outside view' players more than the others. That first lap could NEVER be done from 'cockpit view'.

I happen to be a cockpit view player since 2097 (I can't control the ship from the outside) and I feel that I've been at a disadvantage since the barrel roll has been introduced.

I also play cockpit view, and i'm quite certain that it CAN be done. Yea well it's nasty and harder to execute while you can't see where you're going, but after practice when you can estimate your location, direction and speed on the track, it's very much possible.

Although learning and mastering that trick sure is hard work, but hey, isn't that one of the reasons why we keep playing this game?

If you can perform it without totaly loosing your line, it's advantageous.
You can do it when you take the right turn tight, but it's a little harder than when you take it wider (bump is higher at the widest place). ;)

Seriously nice work the way you pulled off those last 2 BRs leungbok. How many laps does it take in a session before that comes off so well?

About succeeding on those BRs mate, in fact it's intuitive at the begining. I "feel" that i have enough air to try something. And i succeed once, after lot of sessions i succeed twice, lol. And then i start to search how it works, what's the good line and wich input-and if necessary sideshift-timing etc.
I apply too some logical rules : nose up (sometimes it must be maintained a little bit), sideshift helps too, and sometimes the L-R-L or R-L-R must be anticipated and very quickly done, the angle and line of the ship is important too, and some BRs absolutely needs speed so don't miss the speedpads just before (not the case on vin r ;)).

I think that believing you can do it helps too, lol.

Are your vids in HD, Yeldar? If not, you could space-save by re-encoding the video to a lower bitrate. You'd lose some quality, but not too much... I've got a couple of videos that go for 1:30'ish which are only about 11MB, and the quality is acceptable YT-wise.

That's basically like a fairly long or a well encoded mp3 track...

Or if that's what you're already doing, I'd probably recommend an external HDD in any case, I think they're a godsend personally :P

True, the stats got boosted, but I think it's nowhere near as potent in comparison to the other ships since they all have even more speed+thrust boostiness. Who wants an extra 5 handling? The old one was perfect how it was. GIMME SPEEEEEEED.

I recall we did this track and speed class for the speed challenge a few months back. I set new #1s at Rapier class on the SL and TT a few days ago. It seems like the fury tracks aren't as heavily contested as the HD ones.

Yeah I agree, there seem to be less players doing them compared to the HD tracks and they don't seem to attract as much attention in general... still though, I think TDR(R) is the most likely track for me to get close to the top with. My old rapier time is about 0.4 seconds out from the #1 spot, so that may be next :P

And for now I think I'll pass on the TT challenge! Stringing those BR's together for a SL is hard enough! :lol

This video is Detonator mode with the same settings as my recent Zone video.

Notice the funky overlay thingy in the Fury menu but not the HD menu :)

I think if you make zone mode dark you will have to change the settings if you wish to play detonator cos this is just way too hard. Tried to guide myself with the bullets but to no avail.

There is no Barrel Rolls in that video, just a 30.88 Venom lap on Anulpha Pass with Piranha HD. It shows a method i use to Beat Zico Without BR's with 30.81 :nod

@DP89 - I record with a USB Hauppauge HD PVR. I max out the settings. Then I convert with the bundled transcoder to 4Mbps. Original files are MT2S I think. Converted files are mp4. Codec throughout is h.264.

@leungbok, its possible to get a triple BR start on anulphaR, a bit of luck required though. You have to boost BR on the left side wall , skip some of the track whilst BRing an keep your pitch up for a thrid. Can be glitchy, sometimes you go through a bit of wall, at the third BR , but it can be done clean too.

But why do you think the right side of the split is faster? It seems to me both ways are exact mirrorred. And you can fly a straight line from the boost location to the speedpad on the left split.

I also tranferred a couple of times from the left wall on the wall in the middle, but never had enough to br in between, may be one of you guys can make 3 br's there.

I side-shift a lot on Metropia usually, the reason I didn't there was because I turned too early and didn't take my usual line.

As for Vineta K Reverse, I don't really side-shift on that track. I only do it to correct myself if I enter the tunnel wrong. Plus, the experienced zoners put me under pressure ;)
