Anyone got this? I ended up getting this game bundled with my PS3. It's a damn hard game but strangely addictive, get used to coming last and celebrate when you finish next to last.

I've got GRID, and I quite like it. It is strangley addictive, and it's got the best drift mode I've ever seen in a game. Looks quite lovely in HD as well.

GRID appears to be a really interesting racing genre title by the response of the posts comments. GRID is the sister game of Colin McRae Rally (R.I.P. Colin, a great rally driver you where) isnt it? Both created by Codemasters.

I seriously might look into purchasing that game, after im finished fixing up my real life car... And of course much later after Wipeout HD:lol

If anyone has the PC version, I'd love to get a game against you. It'll have to wait til October though - I'm on the side of the world where people drive on the right and measure things in miles and yards:blarg

I lOve miles and yards. Did you know that 12^3 yards is 5184 feet, and therefore is really close to the Statute Mile of 5280 feet. [also love base12 number system. And that one third in base12 is simply .4 instead of .3333333ad infinitum....]

uhhhhhhh...... [has wandered off topic] :banzai er.. I mean

I have experimented the most thrilling and amazing moment for a racing game with wheels of my gaming life : i was racing in a middle of a pack when suddenly one of the AI car crashes 300 meters in front of me, the car literally took off and did a spin in the air while i was passing under it. I was sitting next to a friend and we had a big WOW coming out of our mouths. We spent 5 min watching the replay of it under every angles.

Destruuction derby is awesome when you jump and may collapse another AI car racing behind or forward you.

pfft, prime bases (2,3,5,7,11,13,17,21) are where it's at ;)
*wonders if it's possible to have an irrational number as a base...*

Anyway, I have a question about this game, are the engines and stuff also modeled in game? Are they deformable? Can bits coming off cars affect other ones?

There is an engine block visible when you take enough body panels off your car. Random bumpers and the like affect cars as well - if you run into them you may lose your line and smack into the wall. They also get caught under your car sometimes =O

Kigo, I'd definatley say that you should pick up a copy of Grid, bar GT4 it's the best racing game i've picked up and played, and I've played a lot.

I also like how the AI isn't always the best racer - they will cock up and plant themselves into walls, which is always entertaining to watch (the Ravenswest team never do this, sadly...)
I've had a perfect race ruined by running foul of a bumper from another car left lying in the middle of the track. Lost it completley, bounced off the tire wall and caused a pile-up. - went from "aah ****" to "AH HA HA HA!"

GRID is available on the PC, my mate bought it a few weeks ago after listening to me harp on about it. I'd look into it gnesta, it is a really good game.

THe attention to visual detail in the game is pretty good, but the gameplay felt a little stale. I liked Forza 2 more for a racing simulation... Though I don't think there's any Codemasters game I ever liked anyway.

You didn't like the Colin McRae Rally series? Or you simply haven't played it?
No other Rally game has come close IMO. (and I'm not talking about DIRT, I'm talking about the old series on PS1 and 2)

I've got GRiD on the DS. I could do with a bit less tire screech. The steering is a bit too sensitive [control is a lot better in NFS: Pro Street for the DS], but the graphics are quite good enough to see where you're going and when you have to turn. The car damage doesn't seem to be visible except when pieces are flying off the car, but performance degrades with every bit of damage until it's repaired in the pit lanes. I usually use the camera-on-the-hood/bonnet view, anyway, so I can't see the damage to my own car.

My favourite course in the game is Spa-Francorchamps. Unfortunately, Nürburgring is only the modern course. You don't get to race on the Nordschleife. The Japanese hillclimb course is another one that I like.

A further downside is that it seems one can only have one custom colour and decal scheme at a time.

Overall, a good game with multiple courses and race types, PLUS a track creator :+ .

Possibly. I don't seem to recognise those open-wheeled cars from GRiD. :D

There's not nearly enough carnage in that pic insertcoin...

Anyway, have any of you driven any of the top-class Le Mans cars? I bought and drove the Mazda 787b a month or so ago and it was the most single scariest experience I have ever had in a videogame. Racing a super-fast car on Okutama with its narrow track and CLIFFS EVERYWHERE is a very daunting task.

For that particular track though, you need the PC version. You can mod the time of day and change it to sunset, dawn or midnight. My personal favourite is sunset, makes the colours well much more vivid and pleasing to the eye.

I don't have the PC version, but a good mate of mine does.
Damn, night driving is something that GRID lacks. Bugger
