I saw someone asked this a little while ago, but what's the word on splitscreen multiplayer? Is it in high demand or is it low priority? How many of you guys are hoping for this feature to make the cut. Will the system be able to handle it at 1080p 60fps?
I know it hasn't been a staple of the series, but i think it would add a lot to the game. For all of us who have fond memories of 4 player Mario Kart battles, but need something with a little more kick. I also have some friends who, though they love wipeout, never got to the level of obsess... err... dedication that i have. So i'm sure they'd jump at the chance to ram a few Quakes up my arse.
Also, did elimination make the cut?

spilt screen in HD? im not sure but im going to say i doubt it. for a few reasons, for me at least i need to see the screen as big as can be, theres so many lights and colors and speed going on that if you squished it into a split screen(especially 4) it would be quite the pain to see a lot of what your doing. also, i dont think it will because most games for next gen consoles have a lot more development time focused into having your multi player expieriences over the net as a opposed to spilt screen. Spilt screen is going out, online multi-play is the new in, thats just how it goes.

2 players on WO64 was legendary even though it was tacked on. It worked very well and TBH, I have some friends who will enjoy playing the game.
I hope they do add it on, at least 2 players anyways.

Yeah, i mean i recall having a lot of fun in W3O (NA version) with a buddy of mine. Didn't they even have some weps just for multiplayer (like reverse control).
I mean i can understand your qualm about squeezing 4 players onto one screen... 10 years ago. But especially since they're going for 1080p which is really meant for 30+ inch screens, i don't think there would be a problem with visibility myself. I have yet to upgrade to an HD, but for splitscreen i would definitely get a bigger TV.
I know it's not all that likely, but here's hoping.

Yeah, it's too bad there won't be multiplayer (or likely not). That would be a huge selling point. I mean, you can get other people to love a game a lot easier by playing it with your friends at your place, as opposed to them watching you play it.

I really hope it has up to 4, because on my roommate's and my new 60" 1080p HDTV (yeah, he's makin the crazy bank), having it split in 4 won't be much of a big deal :D
plus, the idea of 4 icaras on one screen is orgasmic.

It's a 1 player game unless you take it online.

i feel i have to comment on this as i feel quite strongly about this, not just in the wipeout series but other games too.
split screen is awesome, simple as.
online is great, it's the next step, but by no means a replacement for the experience of sitting next to your best mates and beating the hell out of them at a game. or passing the control around while you chill out, socialise and have a great time. wipeout is one of those games which work great single player and multiplayer.
ramming a quake up someone's ass, then seeing their reaction beside you is what i'm talking about! :)
to not have something that was introduced over ten years ago and is a staple of gaming, would be a real let down and inexcusible. especially a feature present in past wipeout games.
too many games lately lack this option, today we want, single player, split screen, online and online split screen. it is been done, can be done and should be done with all games that would benefit from it, wipeout been one of them...and on the ps3, it should be possible.
i suspect this won't be in Wipeout HD, but should be in the next PS3 wipeout.

Totally agree with everything you say there. I've spent countless hours with buddies in split screen, and those times were great fun and bring back great memories (my friend owning me in Halo 3, as well as many others) :) It would be a shame to see WipEout HD without them :frown:

Yes I agree. Splitscreen online is the most fun you can have with friends and a game. I really hope they make a fullpriced retail-game and include that.

definitely agree with you Isa.
That cuts the friendly part of playing with friends in a same room.
Look at Pure or Pulse when inviting Dag & the FFF team at home to play through Xlink Kai or right now online with Pulse : it's pure essence of friendship.
what can we do now with HD if no splitscreens : everyone staying in his own house playing online and that is all ... how may looks like the next Wipeout convention? bring 20 lcds for 20 pilots with their 20 ps3 ( please bring back 2 more in case of...:g) for what? playing alone in front of our screen and not be able to play ad hoc or lan? and my precious friday sessions with Dag at home ,finished?

Why do you think the Wii does well? CAUSE OF (OFFLINE) MULTIPLAYER!!!! I'm quite shocked they left this feature out. They really think we have no friends? :(

split would be nice, but not at the expense of delay at this point for me. wo3, and 64 both played very nicely in split screen mode.

Generally speaking I don't care if it has split screen or not. It's not like the good old days here anymore the friends I have that are still into gaming are 360 loving morons now the rest have little interest in gaming anymore thanks to booze and drugs. So it's not like theres any real competition are these parts for me. It's like I'm the only one who hasn't 'moved on' if you like considering my love the series ran all the way through school.
Different when I travel to see other pilots from here! I was wondering about this if there is a convention next year, its going to be hard getting off HD and going back to PSP, probably be like taking an addicts heroin away.

About ''moving on'': Some things are worth never leaving, or at least worth always coming back to. Not all moves are forward; many are dead ends. Or quick burnouts. Or slow death [like a bad career]. But we should probably always be trying out new roads.
