Hi there. Newbie here. First post.
Many years ago the only reason I bought a Playstation was to be able to play Wipeout. No other game -- before (except for Ballblazer) or since -- has given me the same thrill.
I haven't, however, played it since moving to a new domicile several years ago -- until yesterday, that is, when I finally unpacked it from a long-misplaced box. Joy has returned.
And, even though Wip3out is, to me, the worst of the series (though still a great game), I love Curly! I didn't even know her name until I came across this board yesterday, so thank you for the knowledge! It's nice to be able to attach a name to the icon. (Also curious -- how do you know she's named Curly?)
In fact, ever since I saw her that first time so long ago I wanted to get a tattoo of her. Which leads me to my question.
Does anyone know where I can get nice, clear pictures of her, especially in her various poses and facial expressions, ideally with the countdown numbers too? I saw the flashmovie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQh4ng6nSps) at YouTube, but not only is the animation incorrect, the proportions are wrong.
Any help appreciated!
Thank you,
Vada

Thanks, Asayyeah, nice to be here.
I knew that Wipeout had to have a fan base; but little did I suspect it was such an impassioned one.
Then again, given my enthusiasm for the game -- from conception, through its game mechanics, to its unparalleled, cutting-edge art direction -- I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised...

Hey vada,
Welcome to the boards! Always great to see new people on here who've been a fan of the series and just discovered the site here. Not only that, but one from Toronto at least.
I hope Task will get in contact with you and hopefully you can come meet us. We have a gathering this Saturday at the Bull & Firkin. We meet at least once a month for drinks, discussions and some death defying races (was going for aliteration here :P ) If you've got some time visit our thread (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3948).
Also, as Asayyeah said, I'm sure someone will help out with your curly inquiry. There are some crafty and resourceful people on here.
Once again welcome and hope to see you on Saturday!

Thanks for the welcome!
Bull & Firkin, eh? I used to live a few blocks away from it! Don't know about this Saturday, but I expect I will meet you there someday. Do you actually play at the Firkin?!
Toronto rocks in so many ways. More and more I'm convinced it's the best city in the world.

We play the Wipeout games that have been released for the PSP. I think this Saturday will be our first time playing Pulse, but in the past it's been Pure. Last month we gathered at Task's place and we took a few laps on the previous versions from the first game to Fusion and some more Pure on the PSP.
If you can only come for only a bit, please do. The more the merrier! If not, until next time and hope to see you on the forum.

Curly actually appears in the manual for WipEout 2097, near the top of even the first page there's a pic of her with the text "Curlytm says "GO"!
Welcome to the forums :) and I'm sure I have some high-res pics of curly around someplace :P
edit: so it turns out I have hi-res copies of pretty much everything BUT curly :P

No other game -- before (except for Ballblazer)Ballblazer! Oh, what a great game that was! Very little could match the thrill of a 3-point goal from half the field away. That was quite a long time ago...
Right, wipeout, yeah, we definitely play in the Firkin. Every month, we gather and play WO. Mostly Pure so far, but likely some Pulse this weekend. And we've met at my place a couple times to play games that require a TV.
If you can make it, you should definitely come along, it's pretty cool just to hang out with other devoted fans. 8 )
Reply in the thread Gajo linked, PM me if you've got any questions, and enjoy the WOZone!

I suspected that the mention of Ballblazer would lure a glorious reminiscence from somebody! Thanks for making my day -- it's nice to know that I wasn't the only one enamored with that game, so far ahead of its time like Atari's console game I Robot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%2C_Robot_%28arcade_game%29), another old fave of mine which proved to be too far ahead of its time.
As for a Firkin gathering, I look forward to meeting you there sometime. I miss it -- used to be one of my haunts when I lived in the area.
Lion: Unfortunately my copy of 2097 is still in a box somewhere, so I don't have access to a hardcopy of Curly anywhere.
And thanks to all for the nice welcome! You sure know how to make a fan feel welcome here.

Yeah shes pretty awesome :D No other announcer can compare with our Curly, another small reason why I find it the best of the PS1 era Wipeouts.
