Seems like some people simply can't read the rules or are just too lazy to follow them... Here's some more definately wrong hungarians who joined up with fake names:
Oodk "oodk" Oodk (Hungary)
Orum "orum" Orum (Hungary)
:mr-t Get 'em all Mr. T...

They're spammers, mate - they think they can post on the forums with that account. For the first time it's actually an advantage to have two seperate systems.

I've lost count on the number of Paul "Paul" Paul's and James "James" James' I've seen.
The sooner this **** head is IP banned (if that's possible), the better. :blarg

That Hungarian guy has made yet more fake accounts, and yes, they're all the Steven "Steven" Steven sort.
Rob, could you please do something about this sad little wanker as soon as you can before he fouls the front-page any further?! :turd

I'll see if I can come up with something - I think I'm going to have to start storing IP addressess when people register.

I am curious :nod How does that work with dynamic IPs? I remember the Fusion forums, a ‘friend’ of mine decided to register and spam the hell out of them with pictures and other nonsense so webmaster banned his IP only we both had the same dial up ISP (dial up eh? Remember that *cringe*) and were connected to the same phone exchange and after he got banned I couldn’t get on the forums 90% of the time

With dynamic IPs, you have to ban a range of IPs belonging to the company from whose server[s] the spam comes. It takes out the innocent with the guilty, but sometimes losing one innocent is the price you have to pay to stop some wanker from annoying the **** out of ALL your members. But you try everything you can to avoid hitting anybody but the bad guy. In this case, if Rob can record the IPs of this ********, it would probably not affect any other member or even potential member if a range were used. But the guy may have a fixed IP if we're lucky.

''(dial up eh? Remember that *cringe*)''
I use it every day.

Sorry about that, RR - the Fusion forums didn't have a particularly impressive suite of admin tools, so the only option I had was to ban a range of IP addresses. It wasn't until the site had been wrested from the control of Good Technology that I managed to get flood control activated, either, but by then the Hover Race idiots had managed to drive away most of the traffic anyway.
The "hungarian" issue should be easier to resolve without banning anybody else by accident - I'll just make sure that it's more difficult for multiple accounts to be created by the same IP.

Nobody did - that was what was so comical about it. I remember folk saying stuff like "our mod is much better than the one on that WipeoutZone site!", oblivious to the fact I was the same guy!. :D

I have to say that, at the time, I did sometimes suspect it was the case. There was something about wipeoutfusion webbie`s style that seemed familiar at times. :D

Actually, it wasn't always me - there was a guy at Good Technology who would chime in from time to time, plus one of the artists on Fusion who moderated before I arrived, and the user "Zone" was actually Rob Francis, the lead designer on Fusion.
I got the worst of it, though... my favourite was when I found the real name and postal address of one of the teenage dicks responsible for the denial of service attacks. It took a bit of running around - he was into slipknot, so I searched for the same guy on slipknot forums and found a link to his homepage. From there I followed some links to other stuff he had online, before eventually stumbling upon his CV as a Word document. That contained all his postal details. :D
Despite acting as if he was untouchable, he sent me an email almost crying and begging for forgiveness because his mum and dad would kill him for breaking the law.
It's the simple things in life that make it fun! ;)
