Updated my best lap to a 19.33 in the Goteki 45...

Here's my first take at a weekly challenge:

Phantom - Mandrashee - Piranha
3 TTs, that produced the following records

5L: 1'46"81 (no P)
B1L: 22'07"
BL: 20'06" (no BR, lots of scrapes...)

I obviously suck at this game

Some technical questions:
Do you use the left or right turbo pad after the start/ finish line? With the left one I sometimes manage to clear the following series of left-rights with just two quick taps on the right airbrake. However, I can't pull this of regularly and if I manage to do it, I'm so exciting over a good time that I screw up at one of the following easier parts *sigh*
Also, when approaching the floaty section I cross the right double pad to get to the left of the track and take the first speed pad to stay low and don't gain to much height for the following declining right bend. Is that the correct racing line? Thanks for your answers.

Update, but still far from the best times here:

Piranha
5L: 1'42"87
BL: 19"10

still no Perfect Lap though =/

Hi phlOw, hi all.

I've described my strategy before.....i use the turbo on the start of the floaty straight and, same as you, i pass over the bps on the right and on the single one on the left, but i make one br on the declining bend and a second one on the next jump.....;-)

the rest it's only ability to catch good fortune...ah ah ah! :D

Hehe, well said. I don't quite get the feeling for braking into the very first bend, which is vital to pass the following S chicanes with as little steering as possible though. That's why I wanted to know which of the two pads you use? My best time so far was achieved by using the right one. Also the floaty section can become rather tricky with a heavy ship such as the Piranha. It seems as if it handles differently every lap there :D So maybe it helps clearing that section by simply turbo-ing over it. Will give that a try tonight.
HOW do you br on the jump, I wonder? I can pull off a br on the decline which- when pulled off perfectly- sets me exactly on the next pad, but I can only complete half a br there =/ Matter of quick tapping or height?

Hi all,
1.42.99 and 19.83 with icaras.
No time enough to beat my best times, but as Pierre de Coubertin used to say:"the most important thing, is to participate" (personnal translation)

Yes, Asa... You really should. I know I have not been good with taking the challenges lately, but I intended to do so the in the last two... But then, all of a sudden, they end a week early. :(

On Koltiwa I entered the times from my first session, and then it was ended before I had a chance to improve them.

When will the last challenge end? Sorry for the whining...

Hey:mr-t, in the last clan I was in that was all that we used! We were the masters on zones.:robot

AltimaVII - Rapier - PIRANHA

TT: 2'09"36
BL: 0'29"99 Faster than my Phantom time :dizzy
achieved with 2 BR, one over the long straight, second at the jump after that. Think a 3rd is possible at the top of the hill right after start/finish, unfortunately though, Piranha's shield doesn't last 12BRs.

BTW, what is up with time keeping in PURE? In the records' statistics my times are always a tenth of a second slower than while racing. For instance when I set my fastest lap it showed 29"89. In the records, however, it's 29"99. Anyone know what that's about?

EDIT: Love that track, btw. Amazing overall velocity when finding the right line. Especially that S after the big jump *woooosh* \o/

RJ : You can't compete with Triakis , you can post your time but it won't be accepted into the ranking of that TT challenge. ( you updated with Triakis ship into the ntsc tables but you wrote Assegai into your post : a bit confused ;) )

Even it's done with Triakis , this is truly a great score , you should note the 4 lap you did and also explain us your lines who let you get that result.

RJ O'Connell
4th June 2007, 01:00 AM
Aw man. Now I have to do this all again...that whole "can't use triakis" rule kinda slipped by me. Not to worry, I can do it over. My bad.

BR spots: after the first chicane and once I get enough speed to get airborne off the uphill, at the uphill that leads to a steep descent, and off the jump. (I can only do the first one on laps 2-4.)

Basic strategy: Try and keep off the walls and maintain a good racing line with lots of speed pads. That's basically it.

Hi all!

Me and Romano (his own idea :+) begun this weekly challenge on italian wipeout forum, and after some week of no-interest by the other italian guys (are here in Italy fellow wipeout pilots? ), we exported this one challenge on "Robb the Fox" wipeout great site.

Great idea :D

Thanking for this the Def's site of ghosts.

There I knew the greatest pilots :bat

Thanks to the name of Asa (thanks to Asa, above all :D ), this challenge became great here, a moment of race against eachother also out of kai.

With pain and sorrow I look your weekly races...:frown:

31 pilots entering TT challenge along those weeks !

In terms of gold medal i am finishing 1st that's cool :) I like TT so much and been addicted to pure along those several months of challenge. ( actually nearly 10 months ! )

I must congrat you Rom ( and of course all the contenders who took part of that big challenge) for the regularity you did : if i am understanding well your excel sheet , you are the one who took part of the most challenge tracks, right?
