I've always played wipeout on Saturn, because i didn't have the PSX.
Now that i've PS2, i've also the PSX version... do you know they're really different?
The graphics are a little better on PSX. Better framerate and transparency.
But the physic model is a sort of mix between wipeout and wipeout2097.
When you hit a wall, in the PSX version is easy to turn over... in the saturn version instead of turnover there's a bouncing effect.
I'm a modest runner in the Saturn version, but when i put the PSX version i cannot run without getting always turnover :D
The conversion was by Perfect Enterntainment... and i think they done a good work :)

Scroll down to the bottom of this page, there are two Wipeout Videos, footage from Wipeout and footage from 2097, I think they are both from the Saturn versions, at least I can confirm that that’s not PS1 2097, it looks different and I don’t recognise the music

You must have bought Quicktime Pro in order to watch the 2097 trailer, which of course I won't do just for that. A pitty though. :|

*outing myself as incapable of reading webpages*... where do I find the smaller version? *g*
Oh my, I need a Mac. Look at what the patch adds to the Mac version of 2097: "Support for Full Screen Anti-Aliasing." Damn it! ;)

EDIT: Forget my question. I just found it. I somehow implied that you would need to "download Quicktime Pro" in order to "watch in 320x240". :)

if anyone has the saturn version of wipeout, Tim Wright (cold storage) is requesting copies of the 3 saturn exclusive tracks Brickbat, Planet 9 and Poison to be sent to him. He doesn't remember making these tracks so it's a mystery that they are under his name.

Cool, I have the saturn version although won't able to get to it until later in the weekend. I'll mail him then and see if he still wants them (I'd imagine many people must still have it). As far as I remember, the tracks certainly sound like his.

This is the tracklisting from Wipeout Sega
I got this from http://www.discogs.com/release/374217
I emailed Tim and let him know the details, and sent the tracks through to him
Tim informed me that Rob Lord worked for PC Music, and he hadn't heard of Mark Bandola
