According to Official UK PS2 mag, Sony have had to pay $87 million in damages to an exercise-equipment company, who claimed that Sony's Dual Shock's vibrator infringes on a patent made on some of their equipment, as both involve a "rotating eccentric mass" for the purposes of "stimulation".
On top of this, Sony must pay $27 million a year if they want to continue using the technology.
Expect a hasty redesign of the Dual Shock! :o

.
perhaps they took action long ago and legal maneuvering consumed a lot of time before a settlement was actually reached?

edit: Bored, Lance? :D Fair enough, I suppose. I tend to always quote posts so that should someone post while I'm typing, no confusion shall arise.
