View Full Version : Circuit plans ?

Howdy
I am wondering has anyone ever made plans for the tracks (wo3 & classic) ? i.e. in Illustrator.
There are simple top view plans in the manual of wo3se but even knowing the tracks I have a hard time saying where is what...
Also I was thinking one could add notes on them for shortcuts and such.
If someone has source material I'd be happy making them in Illustrator (vector based) and then someone else may add all sort of text and signs to it if wanted.
Is there even any interest for it?

I have asked permission to get these resources released, as the original top-down views of tracks and wireframe representations still exist.
Sadly I don't have permission yet, but hopefully at some point.

good stuff!! thanks!
hm.. at a first glance at Terminal, one might not guess that it is such a rhythmic and flowing track to fly

Cool! They are pretty simple but at least you see the track!
Should've been in the manual for the game instead of the other ones ..
that pretty much are the same but with no start line and these do have a '3D' feel about them ..
How much so little can do!
( hey! this sounded pretty cool! and yes you may quote that :D )
ps. And look at Stanza!! such a beauty! dunno why ppl complain so much about it!?

Yes indeed, cool stuff, although...

I don't find Terminal to give a rythmic feel. Compared to Silverstream, Spilskinanke or even Vostok Island I even find it pretty weak for a final track. ManorTop is as cool as they get, but terminal is like just one more track, with nothing special about it. Probably my least favorite from WO3.

Ouch! Is that your knife sticking out from my back G'kyl? it's probably my 3rd favorite track in wo3. :D
we talked about the last track somewhere and we came to the conclusion that prototype4 is the last track and very hard to beat too! 8)
at least that was our theory of what the Makers 8O intended!

Stanza is one of my favorite tracks. I dont like when you have such a hair pin at the pit stops though, when on other tracks the pitstops are nearly no cost on lap time.

Very cool, never thought of the first corner at terminal as an entire 360 degree one 8O And on this subject, Terminal is my favourite track, Stanza is my least. Go figure *shrug*

compare Spilskinanke to Terminal? You can`t. I`ve never overcome my initial disapointment in Terminal - I expected much more WOW than that for a final track. It has no WOW or Pzazz at all.
moving onto a very much more exciting arena:

how on earth can the right split be quicker? Maybe the gradient as you go left?

how on earth can the right split be quicker? Maybe the gradient as you go left?
Because you can take the right path essentially in a straight line, and the exit from it into the corner afterwards is at a better angle.

ow! rejj you posted while I was answering too! :D
so .. the right way is faster simply coz it's the right way to go!!
err - too early in the morning ..
anyway !
 coz you can take the tunnel almost as a straight, it's flat, got a couple of double speedpads and going in & out of it dont lose you any speed!
 left fork - much tighter higher risk of crashing, 3 small hills make the straight longer, if you don't pich right you can crash with the road
and, main reason in my book, going in the left fork is pretty tricky and even more so is going out!! 8O
but hey, as we all know boosting of a small bump, hill or jump gives you a good speed up and there are a few single speed pads the left way
so if you can go in & out without loseing too much speed you might be the one that's gon prove the rest of us wrong so Go for it ! http://www.geocities.com/zargz/leenden/8d.gif

Really! Give it a chance and you'll see it does have a good flow through the part after the tunnel
all the way to the straight! Just have to find the the line!

Stanza is a cool track, I hated it at first because I kept crashing into this wall and that wall, especially in that tunnel it was BANG x4, after some practice though it grew on me it’s one of my favs now and so is terminal except this was easy from the wood GO!

Hmm, might have a go att stanza later, i've just always hated it, that was where I got stuck on my first W3O PAL save (which I then lost), in rapier class, I just couldn't beat it, not even with the AG systems :x
Guess it'll be less stressful since I've upped my skills (haven't played it since I last touched the (still incomplete) challenge mode... and that was a while ago too :)) *shrug* I guess it's popular with you lot, might as well go ahead and get myself into the top 5 at another track

Stanza Inter is a very special track because you can either hate it or love it. No nothing in between (or I haven't seen anyone saying that they don't care about Stanza Inter).
me love Stanza Inter.
The first corners remind me of Altima VII, then there's the tunnel you can go through in a very distinctive way (tapping/tilting airbrakes so you throw your craft to the sides), then there are these sharp turns, and short tunnels, then there is unforgettible "DON'T WALK>RUN" sign, and the final stretch. Nice track. Luv it. Especially in the AG Sys > Phantom > TT setting.

heh, not done much in the lower leagues really mate, I've gotta go sign on for my jobseeker's today (too much information? :P) but i'll put in some laps on the courses (maybe even Stanza, oooh :o) when I get back :)
Edit: and yeah, about the challenges, there's a reason... Ok, maybe not a good one then heh, but! I filled in all the golds for the first 3 types in one session, wasn't too much worry, but the extra one looked a bit daunting after I played the 3rd challenge and realised that it was going in a funny order (started on Venom I think?), besides... i've been kinda caught up with trying to prove the power of the non-icari in TT... honest
Edit: got on it before I went:
Mega Mall Vector: 0:42:92/1:30:68
Stanza Inter Vector: 0:36:60/1:15:72 (Sun on screen: kept getting lost in the second tunnel )
Terminal Vector: 0:36:08/1:12:16
Oh and i've cleared my memory card to save some space for these ones, only got room for another 2 though and I can't find any more cards :(
Yeah, these are W3O PAL ones, I don't have SE :dizzy Yup, just giving you taste of what you'll be looking at when you take on the old ghosts :P

Oh, but I do don't care! ;-) I think Stanza is OK, but nothing special either way. I find that I don't like "Venom class tracks" (or the second couple of tracks) in either WO2 and 3. They are too tricky to keep up much speed. Anyway, the track I really hate would be Sampa Run. Just whose idea were the two tunnel entrances where you bottom, top or wall out if you don't almost stop the engine before entering them?! ;)

hear hear. I could just about cope with it on Wo3 but it nearly drove me insane getting gold on everything in SE. :x
I do feel SE is too floaty. Is that a heretical view arund here? :?

i'll lend my support thattaway too, the uphill S-bends drive me nuts, I usually manage to bottom out and then hit a wall when I start to adjust my pitch :(
Edit: my thoughts were exactly as G'Kyl said when I was TTing at stanza earlier, when I played it i realised that it indeed works in the slower classes, the short gaps between corners give you long enough to prepare and turn in Vector and Venom, so may I ask anyone who really likes Stanza Inter, how often do you race there outside of the first two classes? Just for curiosity's sake :)

It is, as long as you say that about SE in general. ;) I do agree, though. Since I am currently at gathering all the golds in 3SE (I had been through in 3 before I got SE), I have to say that the game's flight mode is about perfect. Only the tracks clearly feel like they hadn't been designed for it (which, I suppose, they weren't).

1. I like the floatiness, to my tastes it is Just Right.
2. Either vector, or phantom. Anything between is just what you do to earn golds on every race. ;)

I race Stanza at Raiper and Phantom. I just DO NOT understand how you can hate this track because of the sharp turns...It's a great track, I like the feel of speeding up and operating airbrakes taking a full advantige of them, slowing down the craft. It reminds me of F1 racing. There is ALWAYS a way to find how to glide through all these curves without a scratch, this makes a challenge, and is difficult, and whoever cannot cope with that, then they are just lame pilots  Of course there's always a reason to don't like some tracks, so If sb tells me that they don't like the track just "because", then, OKAY, i won't argue. Everyone has their own preferences.

because :clap
Seriously though, it just drives me nuts going around it. if you'll notice though the 4 tracks I always race on (Porta Kora, Mega Mall, Hi Fumii (my least raced on (of the 4)) & Terminal) have some real amplitude in them (ok, maybe take PK outta the equation), that's kind of missing in Stanza if you avoid the big jumps on the left path, that's probably why I love Terminal so much, it's all up and downs :D I also find that I am magnetically drawn to Mega Mall, must be the Uber-Screw that does it
