:D
nOOb question, obviously.
Welcome to WipEoutZone, home of the W3PA and the Offical Pilots Association (fans) for the WipEout Series.
The NEW wipEout (WipEout PurE) is for the PSP. (Sony PlayStation Portable).
Neither the game or the system are available yet, but both are scheduled to be released in March 2005 in Europe.
Keep looking at the 'zone for the latest in PurE details!
Hope this helps

I cannot WAIT until everyone has one - and why the hell do I have to have exams in march? Wipeout pain ahead methinks!

AFAIK, there is no way possible to play a PSP game on a PS2.
The PSP uses new media types - the UMD (or Universal Media Disc) and the Sony Memory Stick. Both of these devices are not compatible with the PS2 or PSTwo at the moment. Connection to a PS2 unit can be possible through the USB adapter included in the PSP pack, but I believe this would be primarily used for small data transfer (or maybe a similar connection between the GameCube and the GameBoyAdvance)
The UMD can hold a total of 1.6GB of information. This puts it on par with the GameCube discs (also roughly the same size). Put this in a comparison with the other systems...
PlayStation : 0.6GB
Dreamcast : 1.0GB
Gamecube : 1.4GB
PSP : 1.6GB
PS2/Xbox : 4.7GB
I believe that the PSP, although not having the technical prowess of its bigger brother, will give the fans possibly the best wipeout experience yet.
