How do you avoid bumping the nose into the floor after taking the gap right before climbing onto the spiral ?
How do you best maneuver that damned spiral ?

1) You don't. Try as I might, I can _never_ avoid bottoming out there.
2) Forward and left (nose down and in) with tapping on the left airbrake as necessary.

I am anything but a WO3 specialist, still: What I do in single races is to simply go fishing for the autopilot (yes, yes, throw your eggs and apples now if you think I care! ;) ) and keep it for the spiral. Unfortuanately, the AP is pretty fast in WO3, which makes this a valid strategy for the not-so-experienced pilot, I believe.

It's difficult to go as fast as the auto-pilot on that spiral without crashing on the external wall, so it's actually a very good place to use it.

Haha! :)
You have it just about right there my man :)
For myself, if using a negcon (spit) I think the spiral is pretty easy, simply because the negcon allows for a greater degree of turn in the descent. With a dual shock I find myself heading down and left while tapping on the airbrake to ensure I tuck the nose into the apex :)
It's a hard track to get the most from, but there is a lot fo time to be made up on the tricky sections - the mega mall "madness in the mall challenge" was one of the most frantic we have had... but that was two years ago now :)

OK, about that jump before the corkscrew, pull the nose of your craft up when you're about to traverse the gap, this will help in reducing speed loss...and on to the corkscrew itself; if you're using analogue, it's simple you won't need the airbrakes, unless you're using the Qirex (which in my opinion handles like a tank), as for those of you who prefer digital, just keep tapping the left button, but be careful not scrape the wall.

As someone said it here. Practice makes perfect. And really... It is not hard at all.

I usually raise the nose too early; it avoids that bump but slows you down a bit however this doesn’t seem to work for all craft for example the Icaras’ nose would have to be raised halfway down the spiral to try and stop the bump

Yes, that is true, you do slow down, but it's possible to counteract that affect by flying over the conveniently placed boost.
